Read on Reuters how Trump is calling it "Riots and Looting" (in all caps e e) and the LA sherriff's department released a statement to the sound of "protesting."
Which, while protests can be stressful to say the least, when they've heated up- that's still a far cry from "riots and looting."
There doesn't seem to be any ulterior motive for the protestors beyond that people are pissed the government's snatching up members in their communities.

If I went to the protest I would be in a wheelchair which is an easy target for a asshole with a Grenade launcher. I wouldn't even be able to run if I had to and I'd probably get trampled by our own people if something happened near me.
