More things I cut up during Covid

I've never braided on this kind of shiny-polyester before, so I was surprised when the material weaved so nicely after being cut. I was SO excited to be working with something else other than cotton, couldn't wait to dig my scissors into it. I knew right off the bat that I wanted to create something dramatic, with lots of sexy-strappy + cat-woman/spider-queen vibes.

Usually a piece like this would take me a week to finish, but since I had a lot of covid time on my hands, I was able to cut and weave the piece in one day (yeah, my hands hurt from cutting after). And then I had 29 different points that I had to sew down to keep the pattern to stay! So I did slowly that over the next few days.

First, I trace the lines and shapes that I think would be interesting. Some places I don't know where I'm going to cut yet. I just kind of go with it.

This is the part where I try to be as focused as possible. Once you cut, you can't un-cut, so I just try not to mess up here.

Braiding is the fun part :)

I guess in the end I went for more of a spider-queen type look with the sharp, curving edges near the hips, and the open, webbed abdomen. But I dunno, I could see it being cat-woman too!

I totally did try it on after it was done, but sadly it was too big on me and you couldn't see the patterns anymore. Luckily, it fits Molly (my mannequin) just right so at least one of us gets to wear it :)

[EDIT] I just fell asleep and woke up today, and wow - thank you all for the love! I know some of you are in it for Molly or my dog Kira, and they appreciate the love too! To answer a few questions that I've been getting:

1. You can look up "t-shirt weaving" on youtube to find tutorials if you are interested in trying out this style of altering your clothes.
