You can blame the packer all you want, but the fact is that the package is marked "Fragile, Handle With Care" and the delivery person drops it over a fence. They definitely should also be punished for that...
As a european I find that screwed up on so many levels. Starting with a delivery person leaving the valuable package unattended in some random place. Ending with throwing boxes around. When I order something, it arrives either in a post office, parcel locker or delivery guy gives it to me personally taking my signature for it.
This lady was wrong, I do not dispute that, but some of y'all will order shit and then make it so I can't possibly deliver the package without yeeting it over your fence. Like, don't turn your house into Ft Knox and then expect me to find a way around your impenetrable security system just to deliver your extended DVD version of Felicity.
Also, I don't work for FedEx anymore but seriously, stop ordering collapsible swimming pools or beds online and wanting them delivered to the third floor.
This, this is 100% on the person who shipped it. Cause I can promise you, that's probably the 2nd lightest drop that box had. Key phrasing, /lightest/.
I promise you that thing got murdered on a machine. SInce they usually drop from 10-15ft.
So yeah, pack your shit with a little bit more than a few pieces of newspaper. Fill cavities with paper use old styrofoam chunks. Do whatever you gotta do. Make yourself feel confident that if you yeeted it, it wouldn't break.

Was the delivery person expected to climb the fence and deliver it?

This is the least abuse this package has seen in transit. Grossly under packed if it broke.

Installs fence to keep out the poors, gets mad when the poors can't do their job.

It was hideous, they did you a favor.

If that broke it then blame whoever packaged it.
