#45 demanded raising the "nation’s debt limit — something his own party routinely rejects. 'Anything else is a betrayal of our country,' they wrote."
According to republicans, he is a traitor to our country.
So, after all of that noise about the debt we incurred under President Biden--a drastic reduction over the damage he did, he wants to freefall into debt immediately?!
Jeffries said “an agreement is an agreement,” and by backing out of it “the House Republicans “will now own any harm that is visited upon the American people.”
Already, the massive 1,500-page bill was on the verge of collapse, as hard right conservatives rejected the increased spending, egged on by Trump’s billionaire ally Elon Musk who rejected the plan almost as soon as it was released late Tuesday night.
Rank-and-file lawmakers complained about the extras, which included their first pay-raises in more than a decade — a shock after one of the most unproductive chaotic sessions in modern times.
(I'm upset about their raise, too!)
The bill also includes $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers, but still failed to win over the budget-slashing GOP.
They want to subsidize farmers before even resuming the trade war?!
“My phone was ringing off the hook,” said Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky. “The people who elected us are listening to Elon Musk.”
How embarrassing!
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland said this is the problem with “an oligarchy a handful of wealthy people run everything and everyone is supposed to live in fear of them.”
“Is this going to be the norm? Is this going to be how we operate?” said Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo.

am I missing something?? he's not the president yet right?

He wants Biden to raise the debt ceiling so he doesn't have to. For the record, the debt ceiling doesn't need to be raised until June.

How does a convicted felon out on bail, and a private citizen, get to dictate what Congress can do?... I also want to know why it's taking so long to sentence him to prison for his crimes...

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Musk drove Twitter into the ground, and now people are acting like he actually knows what he's doing...what's best fo America. The stupidity is as appalling as the quaking in fear.

These people are unfit for office

I'm really focused on trying a dry January. My partner as well. He's not even in office yet and I want to drink more.

77 million americans will still line up to suck his dick, because they're stupid fucking idiots

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Fuck You, Hawley. You climbed into bed with these people to win the election and now the butcher's bill is due and you balk? Take your medicine, you sniveling little waste of flesh.

What the fuck did they think was going to happen? The US is screwed and there is basically no way they are going to recover from it. There is a very real chance that we'll soon be re-enacting WW2 with the US playing the role of Germany...

9 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Nah, probably not a world war quite yet. But an economic nosedive, yeah, that's coming and coming in hard. And as the US espouses isolationist policies, China will finally invade Taiwan. That will affect computer manufacturing particularly hard, as if the trade wars weren't doing enough already. A host of other problems. And yeah, a couple decades before we begin to recover. Anyone with the ability to stockpile food, I suggest doing so.

Trump wants a brain for Christmas

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They do not give a shit about any harm they cause, there is nothing that can hurt them anymore. They get votes just for party. They commit terrible crimes all the time and no one says shit. They exist to kiss his ass and feed his fucking ego and anyone who doesn't will be investigated by the FBI.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And if they don’t want to do whatever it is that will get them votes, someone else who’s even more morally incompetent will.

“Is this going to be the norm? Is this going to be how we operate?” said Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo

Yes Joggin Josh. It is.
This is why you elected Trump/Musk.
Congratulations and fuck you.

Why the fuck should this cheeto munching facist get anything he wants right now? He's not even president yet!

If cancer was a person.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol, so the guy that's going to fix the economy is actually bad for the economy? You don't say

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The FBI and all other law enforcemrnt agencies are still working during a government shutdown, though they may be slightly demoralised.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just a reminder that the debt limit is a nonsense artificial construct. Its an amount Congress said couldn't be spent after they already made a budget that said how much to spend.

9 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Also, they could easily balance the budget by taxing the rich. Clinton did it and he didn't even raise their taxes by much.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tax the rich, stop funding the DoD till the pass an audit, stop subsidizing industries that have been around for hundreds of years.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Elon Musk was *not* elected nor approved for a government post. Oh and by the way, Trump is President ELECT and has no right to appoint anyone until sworn in Jan 20, 2025. Grow a spine and do not acquiesce to this rampant corruption!

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Can they impeach him before he’s sworn in? Just for laughs?

9 months ago | Likes 183 Dislikes 0

Elon?

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They could have a tiny impeachment, as a treat

9 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

You spelled assassinated wrong.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember Jan 6th? The GOP could refuse to ratify the results. Would be a weird flex if they do.

9 months ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

The quest then becomes: who will be President?

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

dibs

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe we could go a few years without a president, as a treat.

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Vance? Vance or a special election. Or they'd just skip ahead and put Musk in because he's basically president anyway.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

9 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Hope? If he is ineligible, doesn't that just elevate JD "P25 Posterboy" Vance?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

JD doesn't have nearly the support and pull with maga that trump does

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He is, he said last time he had no commitment to the constitution. How is he supposed to swear an oath when he already admitted he doesn't mean it? The fact we have a literal felon who sold our classified documents to foreign governments about to be president shows how absolutely corrupt our government has become.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*Moronic our people have become*

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not too surprising to hear Trump want to raise the debt limit. He ran the debt up a lot last time he was president (and by far more than Biden's administration), his business tactics have him describe himself as "the king of debt." What concerns me is how easily he steers congress without even being in office. He can make house republicans kill bipartisan immigration bills so he can campaign on it. He can make them kill this to make demands. This...is bad.

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yet republicans always blame democrats for the debt. The other day, I saw someone claim that President Biden increased the debt more than anyone else. I gave real numbers and never heard back.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know it will affect/hurt so many of us. But do it. Have it shut down. It might make many actually turn on him/ republicans

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Hahhahaha..what exactly about the past 8 years makes you REALLY think Repubs would suffer ANY consequences because of this?

Ok someone help me understand why the FUCK this piece of filth has any sway. He's just a fucking citizen like anyone else til inauguration. How can Not The President fucking tank the government from his goddamn SOFA.

9 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

They wanted a king. Now they have a king.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The incoming US government will run off of loyalty and money. The more of one or both you give the more clout you'll have. It's why you're going to see businesses across every sector embrace the fascist stuff in order to ingratiate themselves to the regime. Companies willing to play ball will make them a lot of money.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Because the GOP has let him control their party since 2016.

9 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Because they know in a month they will have to answer for him and they also want to set the stage for the next congress in a few weeks when they are in control. They don’t “have” to listen but they never quit trying to please the orange man when he wasn’t in office so no reason to start now, before the yay-hoo gets in there

9 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Because he's the richest man in existence and can buy all the politicians he wants, because bribery is legal as long as you call it a Campaign Donation.

It’s the Repub two step: everything that is bad under a Dem president is the “best thing for the nation” under Repub admins - and yes, Dems do it too - but actually compare policies. There’s one group whose policies benefit a small group of people who really don’t need it (hint: it’s the Repubs). I don’t get how people are surprised by this shit - I’ve been able to vote for 24 years and this shit just repeats. Sure Dems suck - but at least they lube up first and provide a semi competent reach/1

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Around and ask if it felt good for you.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Republican presidents consistently drive up the debt and then when democrats come in, they need to curb spending, while republicans blame them for the damage republicans did.
Two Santas.

Aka Republican two step. But I get that the response was long.

Stupid Trumpers should never live a day of peace for the rest of their miserable fucking lives for subjecting the world to this continuing stupidity.

9 months ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 0

It’s sad, and I weep for the people who will be harmed by these maniacs, but it’s obvious that Trump supporters and the electorate that couldn’t be bothered to vote for the coloured woman because ennui or what the fuck ever need to suffer immensely before they’ll learn a lesson and that lesson needs to resonate for decades.
