It is when I see things like this I look back with pride on a national past created at large by frivolous historians and archeologists with a nationalistic agenda during those particularly formative years of the 19th century. Good times, good times indeed.

That's pretty friggin cool

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

cool except most vikings raided things like monestaries and villages - things with relatively little or no ability to fight back.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Whooo I am from Viking land and have never seen anything quite so fancy! The audience seems so unimpressed! What’s wrong with them?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ahh just learned it is in France. That explains why they are so disinterested in another culture…

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that the Matrix music?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Finally!!! Yep that's is The Matrix music right there. The fact that it took so long for someone to point that out is disappointing

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They also have a bloody great big replica roman collisseum. I was there a few years ago with the rugrats. I think I was more excited than them. photos here: /gallery/IZNYt79

Holy shit I had no idea this existed.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where is this?? I would love this so much!!!!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But did they brush teeth, wear cologne and steal everyone's girl?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that thing supposed to be on fire?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

With Vikings, pretty much everything is supposed to be on fire.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Better than that one they had in Vegas, might still be there who knows.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now that is a show worth going to.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok, that’s pretty fuckin’ baller. Solid 5/7.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's so cool!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is there any rape involved?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

now THIS is a renaissance festival..

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a RenFaire I would enjoy attending.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Medieval rather than Ren, but yes

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair there's very little Renaissance left in Renaissance Faires

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

mainsprings were invented in the 15th century, but I don't know how long it took them to dream up clockwork waifus

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That is quite a show! Stuntmen a-leaping.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's some nice showmans-ship going on there :o

2 years ago | Likes 152 Dislikes 1

They really pushed the boat out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also making some cool jumps out of the boat too :o

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's more ships than you normally see in the street.

2 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

Yes, one more.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

puy du fou, best theme park in the world, no kidding, even seeing this doesn't remotely prepare you for everything else they have

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What a time to be alive

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That looks awesome!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hold my beer

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This show was created by a far-right Christian nationalist politician who thinks the French Revolution was a mistake, btw. It's basically France's equivalent of a creationism museum.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 3

I went there as a kid and I didn't realize the religious undertones, I just remember the pyrotechnics and stunts lol

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That explains the glazed-over audience

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

That they’re French is enough.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why can't our shitty theocrats (I repeat myself) do something cool like this? A fake giant ark that doesn't go in the water is not even in the same ballpark.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Chad Catholic vs Cringe Evangelical

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Very fair analysis. They're basically just what's left of the Roman Empire anyway.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The park also depicts Romans as heretics saved by good Christian France.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Someone should point out to them that the Romans wiped out the last actual Christians when they killed off the last of the Donatists...the Romans are the ones who persisted into the present, not the Christians.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

and yet when you put on a big theatrical piece about pilgrims landing at plymouth rock, murdering native americans with their muskets as they disembark, everyone's up in arms. How has viking culture somehow managed to earn not only a pass, but a god damn celebration?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Debates about historical accuracy aside, the vikings don't really get a "pass" in this show either, as the whole show (and park) has a right wing christian bent, sadly: /gallery/9fahdev/comment/2362915693

seems heavily ingrained in many armed forces too, though not officially, cause that'd be problematic with the optics... i guess rich rightwing jobbies building shit that they venerate does go a long way in answering my question though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you SEEN any frost giants lately? I rest my case.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What? Why? And where?

2 years ago | Likes 313 Dislikes 1

yes, yes, and maybe

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Age of empires

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Le Puy du fou" in France, it's one of the best parc here !

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

fou de fa fa

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would be the best if it wasn't owned by a wannaba nazi fascist asshole. But apart from that, yup.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Viking raid reenactment. Cuz it's cool and fun to learn about history. And France. In fact, all three could be answered with "France"

2 years ago | Likes 243 Dislikes 2

Ah, that is why this is cut short? Because it ended moments after with a white flag being raised?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"France" definitely explains the "pfft, whatever" of the crowd.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've seen similar things in Germany. There's a massive Wild West one and I saw a huge Wizard of Oz play with outrageous production values when I was in kindergarten. The evil witch had a fire-spewing car for some reason.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

There are two with "Wild West" or more precisely the works of Karl May about Winnetou. One is in Bad Segeberg and the other is in Elspe. If you have interest in live action shows and have no problem with it being in German) I can recommend at least Elspe. (Haven't got the chance to visit the other).

What? France. Why? France. Where? France

2 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

There, France: There, castle

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thank you very much!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Be prepared for a lot of screaming.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you watch dubbed audio there are two versions. Both are good.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I usually watch the original version, I like reading...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shame about the second

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

Personally I loved Angry Farmville

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about the second?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Character suffers from bad PTSD from events in the first season. People expecting violence got mad about it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Skip the second season lol

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 11

Both seasons are amazing and the second may be better. You just a hoe.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

No Don't be one of those brain dead people who don't like good character development. It's story is very strong and dives into personal consequences.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's not character development, it's character reversal and it's lazy. The Golden Age arc of Berserk didn't end with Guts becoming a baker because it didn't have lazy writing.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, second season is the character development season. Very mild on action, but important context for the 3rd and 4th seasons currently being produced.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That might be true but it is incredibly *boring* and the character development comes from completely out of no where, not to mention it's nonsensical. The main character spent the better part of his life slaughtering hundreds of people to get good enough to kill 1 man, then ends the season with him pissing mad ready to kill everyone. Second season starts with him on a farm years later where he's a devout pacifist with no explanation given as to why and he's talking about building a peaceful

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I'm with you man.its great character development and I knew when season 2 came around that a lot of chods would give trash opinions cause there is no violence like season one. It's why it never got an adaptation till recently.
