I’m sure that’s the case. However, the internet tells me that the regions with the most projected growth for Catholicism within the next ~25 years are Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Yes, I’m aware there’s white people in these places too. I just remember seeing historical brown-skinned Jesus statues in Mexico City that (allegedly) the Spanish Catholics of yore used to attract indigenous people to Catholicism, which got me thinking.

You make a good point WRT the americas, I was being cheeky - the largest populations of catholics are in the americas because of colonisation, but they are being drawn away by the happy clappy churches. In Africa this is even more true, as the only existing catholics in Africa are in Mocambique, and they are moving to protestant churches.
