#15 That empty section is one piece of cake, is it? Tell me you're American without telling me you're American...

#11 and the asshole still shared it on the internet...

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

#3 just share your social media. If you don't like them, block them.

Once, while looking for a room in an apartment, I read an ad that stipulated "Must own shoes". At first I thought what authoritarian BS is this? The ad ended with "No sucka' MCs!" and that's when I knew... living there would not be worth buying shoes.

#1 Zoomers are already working or in school. It's Gen Alpha that are being raised on AI porn

3 months ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

I was going to say this! This is the version of the Boomers and Gen Xers referring to everyone under the age of 20 as Millennials for 30 years. They've finally figured out that Gen Z exists, just in time for Gen Z to be the ones having kids and starting careers.

#11 as a fan of old 007 movies this really speaks to me

#9 Why is the "face swap" a cooked waffle when he's clearly pouring liquid batter into the iron?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#3 Tried to buy an item from someone online. They said I had to pay before they'd give me an address. I said I needed to see that the item existed before I paid a dime. Have a nice day.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That was definitely a scam, never pay in advance

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#3 IMO he's framing the question wrong. It's a male/female power dynamic thing. I think men should be willing to share first because women legitimately fear for their safety. In same sex couples you do you, probably fewer safety concerns but I guess that might vary regionally (gay bashers and whatnot).

#3 the Blue Guy is correct. https://www.them.us/story/grindr-salisbury-university-maryland-assault-hate-crime-charges
This is just one of the more recent hate crimes perpetrated by people faking on Grindr

#9 Why is he pouring batter onto an already cooked waffle then?

3 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Came her to say this. Def not a faceswap pic

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#4 no. Only two non-consecutive lines are accurate. He’s typical.

#1 there will probably only be a small window of time where AI people have six fingers. The concept will probably long outlive the problem and future people will just be confused by it.

I know who that is but what does drawing a ruler from memory have to do with it?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Autism I imagine

#3 I am closer to the first guy. The second boggles my mind. Like you don't go see a band live and then buy their album. I'm going to see if this person is a loon online and if they are I know I don't have to hang out with them

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#4 he'll probably know the exact number of steps he took between the car and the door to the doctors office you brought him to to get him tested for autism, but not what the doctors name was or if they were wearing glasses. I wouldn't be worried, encourage his passions enthusiastically but also introduce him patiently to the wider world. I am so lucky to have 5 siblings and grown up moving around often, I was forced to learn human interaction and it's been important.

#3 I didn't go on dates with guys before checking my states criminal record system on them... Before and after social media. I kinda feel bad, but it the same time I'm glad my face is on my head instead of on their face.

What does Sonic have to do with it?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#4 why keep him away from sonic the hedgehog?

3 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I think it’s a reference to the kid being Dr robotnik or however you spell it. He’s the main antagonist and good at engineering.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Sonic fandom's especially perverse and full of obsessive autists, most famously with CWC but also like the furry fandom at large. But I think it's more about "he's gonna have a hard enough time in life for being a weirdo, please make him get a hyperfocus in something that will earn a living and be specialized in a way useful enough to give people a reason to put up with his weird ass."

3 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Sonic fandom has the weirdest seedy underbelly you can imagine. Not the place for a quirky kid to get more quirky.

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sonic fandom notorious for lots of autistic individuals to enjoy and they often become obsessive over, and the fandom is very weird and cringey. Sonic OCs being a very popular meme about it.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I also want to know, and will come back later to see if it's been answered

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sonic fandom is perverse, weird, and full of obsessive autists. For some reason Sonic just itches autistic brains well, and the fandom is full of weirdos. Last thing you'd want your kid becoming part of.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have little hope but am clinging to it.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m reading it as any game that required perfect timing and memorizing of the play through. Sonic (the originals) were speed runs of what Mario was before it. He’s basically be unstoppable at those games, where being in engineering or architecture would be a most likely preferred subject of study.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Its about the weird and perverted fandom behind Sonic, and how Sonic really attracts autistic people for some reason. And an autistic child will have hard enough time in life without getting mixed into that crowd.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Christian Weston Chandler is why

Maybe not controversial, but my opinion on shoes is you should be able to get a shoe in any size. It's really disheartening to see a shoe that I like and only have it available up to 13 or something

3 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

My size 14 husband feels your pain.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't even have very large feet, but the number of brands that refuse to do half or wide sizes is crazy.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Going from mens shoes where I can pretty much find what I need, to womens and I can't find shit that's even comfortable has sucked.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can still wear men’s shoes. Many are pretty gender neutral if you are a pants wearer (I’m a jeans and t shirt person myself).

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I tend to stick with sneakers, but my gripe is specifically with some styles. Like boots, goth shoes, heels, stuff like that.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Assuming you’re AMAB, it’s the width at the toe box making it difficult. I have narrow feet and still look for styles that let my toes have plenty of room. You may need to size up a half size in those styles if you can. Or a number size or two when using European sizing.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know *why* they don't fit. I'd be happy to size up, if they still made shoes that size (in a price range I can afford.)

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really controversial, but while I feel for you I understand why making a shoe that isn't going to sell more than a few isn't in a companies best interest. I have the most average shoe size which believe it or not means I also can't find my size in a popular shoe often when they're popular. Not even close to your struggle I'm sure

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel you, fellow sasquatch.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd like if a given size meant anything and I didn't have snug size 13 sneakers right next to double-sock-loose size 11 work boots at the foot of my bed

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I feel that.. workboots are sz 10, AF1 are size 10.5 most other shoes are 11 and puma suedes are 11.5 like wtf is going on here

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Like everything we wear, we need to move away from sizes. The best part of being a man is that at least with pants the waist and inseam are listed in inches. All clothing should be in inches or cm or mm. I want to buy a shoe that measures the length and the width of the toe box. We need more exact measurements. Marketing departments should be fired for this crap.

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

#3 response = that is fair and understandable. We have two viable points of view. Good luck, have a nice day, and farewell.

3 months ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

Over here simply annoyed that "Yes" wasn't combined with the explanation

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think gender plays an important role here. Women justifiably have greater safety concerns than men so men should be more open with their social media. (in same sex situations, you do you, I dunno how that works)

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't use anything like tiktok, IG, or Facebook. So I'd be screwed if anyone ever asked this of me. Not that I'd need to since I already have a partner. Imgur and reddit are basically all I ever use and even then never post pictures or details about myself.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Imgur and reddit are my only social. Reddit is just to ask a question and wildly different. When I met my wife she found it refreshing. Thank GOD Myspace is no more.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

exactly. my social media footprint (outside imgur) is basically null. and whats there isn’t for people i don’t know. but i do understand someone, especially a woman, wanting to verify who the stranger from the internet they are about to meet is. (though this is also why i prefer a mid-day coffee meetup for first meetings. much MUCH safer environment, so less need to pre-vet.

3 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Lol, "my social media footprint is basically null"

I don't HAVE social media. Any. No Facebook, insta, xitter, nothing. I dealt with reddit some years ago when they went heavy Nazism and never looked back. People have trouble believing a millennial doesn't have social media. Fuck em, look me up and find zero. Lol

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

exactly! my facebook only exists for FB marketplace and because my old job *required* a FB profile to work there. (yes it was toxic as hell). no IG, or any of the others except an old xitter account with false info i haven’t closed. i *should* close it. but a few things i need to track still only post updates to there for some ungodly reason. so i can’t *entirely* ditch it yet. then it’s just imgur, and a subreddit for my fav game. not as good as i’d like. esp the xitter, but working on it

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah this is grindr and is atm full of scammers and some not so nice people splashed in amongst all of the gays so I 100% get both of them being a bit wary.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

oof yeah makes sense. feels like a great pool of “targets” for anyone looking to go commit some hate crimes. so i totally get the layer of caution, especially in this environment.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm confused, how are they messaging each other if they don't know each other's socials or phone number?

Ah, anonymous social network, gotcha

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

its a dating app, looks like grindr (mostly for gay men)

3 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

It's grindr

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Woman not wanting to share contact info until they know the guy isn't crazy or a creeper. Man not wanting to meet up until they know she actually exists and he isn't being scammed or targeted somehow.

3 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

This is 2 dudes. But your point stands none the less.

3 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I always google everyone im gonna hook up without.
Usually name, location and age can help you pinpoint who it is and then you can look em up on socials. Anyone not doing this is just nuts.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Weird to downvote security. Guess being murdered is preferable to looking someone up. Also, if you don't use friends only, you weird.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Out of curiosity I just googled my name and location and the only thing relevant to me that comes up is my mom's obituary.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also age... Unless they have an unusual name you might have to look up a few on fb... im old enough that most people i meet are on fb...also might be a small city... About 1 mil people

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Adding my age actually made it so literally nothing related to me popped up.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#15 one piece can be any size, I suppose. I like the trick of saying 2 pieces and I ate both.

3 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

That’s my kind of cake slice!

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never seen anyone mention the colossal size of that one piece, any of the many many times I've seen this. At least you ate 1/4 of the cake already
https://media2.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1ejY1YnlxaGh6cDJ2cGkwaGw3OWw1bHZuNXJ1cngydTR2Z3RqZWc5aSZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/5xtDarmwsuR9sDRObyU/200w.webp

Right center of the cake is to the right of the slicing point.

They only ate 1/5 of it! Which clearly makes a huge difference.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ah I was hoping nobody would call me out on my hyperbole. I'm just dramatic, blowing things out of proportion for shock value

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I was only trying to be funny with it, not drag you over it! Sorry if it came across as a "correction" instead of an extension of the joke.

Lol nah I thought it was funny you're good

As an Indigenous dude who teaches land acknowledgements to non Indigenous Peoples of turttle Island. land acknowledgements are given to show allyship and progress towards Reconciliation. Its about learning the history of the Land and understanding the impacts of Colonization on Indigenous Peoples. Its about shareing your Reconciliation jorney and spreading awareness of the positive impacts that can be had when we work together. Together we can create positive narratives that fight stigmas.

3 months ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

Thank you for explaining, I've always wondered if it's actually helpful in some way or if it was just virtue signalling

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for your interest. :) As an Indigenous Liason I can not express how helpful it can be to improving your relationships with Indigenous Peoples. Showing honesty, heart, knowledge and actively valueing Indigenous Peoples. Goes a long way. I used to help communities and non profits improve relationships and get projects started that otherwise would of gone nowhere without establishing good relationships. Any how cheers yo.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I'm reading it right, it's a statement that acknowledges the indigenous/traditional keepers of the land; it's a way to be respectful of old traditions.

3 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

The joke is that even the apartment rentals have gone woke by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land - Natives. Now they don’t give them the land back or anything, but they seem to think that a few words will appease them.

So woke is this advert in fact that the reply suggests that we should make the spelling of “Landlord” into “Landlxrd” in a sort of “Latino v Latinx” battle of the MOST woke.

3 months ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 4

Folx

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry, a land acknowledgement is WHAT!?

That's the real estate equivalent of YouTube posters thinking they're cool with the people they're ripping off by adding "no copyright infringement intended".

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought it was like a censoring edit because they consider landlord a slur or swearword, kind of like, "slxt" instead of "slut". But now that I think of it, it's more commonly done with an asterisk... F*ck

3 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You could be right but I’ve gone ALL IN with this explanation 🤣😂so I hope I’m right

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Land Bastard is the only correct gender neutral term for those wankers

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

does that imply the existence of landlard

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks, I hate it.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Theres no need for new gender neutral terms, we can already just call them all parasites

You ever notice the only people who do land acknowledgements are white dickheads who actually have some power to help improve things and choose not to?

3 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 4

See it all the time, it’s infuriating and often condescending.

With the “Welcome to Country” it should always be a Native Elder from the local area, but I don’t blame them if they would not want to welcome the people that took everything from them.

Main thing is I don’t like seeing some non-native try hard welcoming people to land that isn’t theirs.

Also the gender stuff in the post is just kind of mean and unnecessary. Maybe it’s an effort at a pun but why pick on another vulnerable group?

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Yeah it doesn't sit right. I remember a line from a movie: "What's going on Chief?"
"Don't call me Chief"
"Aren't you the tribal chief?"
"Yeah but it just sounds racist coming from you"
There's an uncanny valley esque feeling from some people over compensating, like you can tell it's backhanded acknowledgement that they have to use the language or lose business but they're not happy

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

As an Indigenous dude who teaches land acknowledgements to non Indigenous Peoples of turttle Island. You got it wrong. Hosts dont give the acknowledgement, visiters do or non Indigenous Peoples do. I would happly teach about this.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve had training on this actually.
Welcome is by the land custodians themselves and acknowledgement is from the others.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s such a fascinating part of culture. Greeting each other is very honoured all across the world but in the western world people often skip that just start ranting at each other.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would love to learn more if you feel like making a post!

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Latinx? I haven't heard of this.

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I will once again bring up the fact that Latinx was invented by Latinx people to describe **themselves**. Did white Americans then absolutely RUN AWAY with it? Yes. But it started with Latinx people just wanting a better word to use. Latinx also predates Latine by at least 5 years. While neither has an exactly clear origin, it seems likely that: Latinx was created by English speaking Latinx people, then a few years later Latine came about in Spanish or Portuguese speaking places for Latine folks

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thank you, I did not know this. Perhaps the word is a shortening of "of Latin extraction"?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's stupid because Latine already exists as a gender neutral word.

3 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Latinx predates Latine by several years.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you have proof of that, or just more knowledge than I have, then I'll defer to you, but the only sort of etymology I can find says they came about around the same time.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Spanish is a highly-gendered language, there's not really a gender-neutral suffix. Latino, latina. A proposed solution is latinx. Don't ask me how that's pronounced.

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

While recognizing the word's gender-neutral origin, I always low-key read it as " of Latin extraction"

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah. Thank you for explaining. I'm familiar at a high school level with Spanish but was unfamiliar with this new term.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's pronounced latin-ex

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or la-ti-nex?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never seen it used by an actual person referring to themselves. Only by white people and overwhelmingly politically correct people applying a label to people that never asked for it.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s a very interesting word. It’s not proper Spanish at all.

As you may know the letter X itself is pretty rare in Spanish.

“Latinx” is an ENGLISH-language invention designed for inclusivity of all genders. I guess this is people trying to do the right thing, which is good, but…

It’s pretty offensive to take a word from Spanish, modify it and foist it upon native speakers

3 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Several native Spanish groups have said (paraphrased) We appreciate the consideration and being seen but that's not how our language works so if you could please just not "

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm not surprised. We can see that they are trying to do a good thing. The thing is Spanish Speaking people have rich and diverse cultures, and know best how to use their own languages. This has that whiff of "White Normative" about it. Europeans having colonised half the world now want to "save the poor people" of the developing world from the problems they wouldn't have if it wasn't for colonisation.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's what anyone who does it to English is doing. Just because your native language is my native language doesn't mean you make the rules.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I live in an area with a large Hispanic population and I'd never heard that particular phrase before. So it had me curious.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As pointed earlier, the spanish version already exists... "Latine". Inclusivity starts with knowledge, some people should give it a try before thinking the world depends on them

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mentioned this elsewhere, and have a longer comment on it elsewhere in the chain, but Latinx predates Latine, and was created by Latinx people to have a word to describe themselves. Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries looked at it, rightfully thought it was not great, and somewhere in there Latine was formed as a word that was both pronounceable and applicable to the same goal.
