Welcome to Fictorum's Booth. Fictorum is an action RPG featuring destructible environments, a node-based world map, and dynamic magic shaping. You are a powerful wizard of a forbidden magical order, the Fictorum, with the unique ability to shape and master all schools of magic. Stretching the limits of your power, you have survived your own execution at the hands of the Inquisition, a sprawling theocratic empire bent on eradicating all Fictorum. As the last of your kind, you will shatter the Inquisition as vengeance for you exterminated order, as well as anyone else who dares to stand in your path.

In Fictorum, your mage wields real, legendary power right from the start—unlike those found in most magic-centric games. Our magic system uses a dynamic and intuitive spellcasting and shaping system that grants the player an unrivaled level of customization and reconfiguration. Up to three runes can be applied to a spell, each affecting a different spell characteristic. The runes are easily swapped to suit the player’s current need, interest, or whim. You might amplify ice blasts to freeze enemies in place, expand the radius of a fireball explosion to crumble a bridge and hinder pursuers, or chain a lightning attack together to strike several targets in a cluster. Shaping makes spellcasting much more tactical and satisfying.

Our node-based exploration world map is heavily inspired by Faster Than Light, which allows us to procedurally generate game chapters—This grants a vastly different experience each time you play. Each mountaintop has a vignette of something interesting going, often resulting in combat.

The world has been ravaged by a thick, corrupting miasma, which amplifies the physical and magical abilities of its victims, but at the expense of their humanity. The Corrupted are formidable (and common) foes.

The Fictorum progresses in power by finding items in various areas. Items are automatically picked up off of enemies as they die or flee in terror.

Not only are all buildings destructible. Every structure can be explored and looted.

The items you find will help you become more powerful on your quest to kill the Grand Inquisitor.

As you rampage across the land, some mountains will have specific goals for you to accomplish. In some areas you will be tasked with killing certain enemies, such as other wizards.

[Fictorum] Give it a look! The game is coming along well (not mine)

In other cases, you may need to destroy a bridge to cut off marauding bandits.

Thanks so much for checking out Fictorum’s booth, and thank you for all the love and support you have shown us so far. Fictorum is a much better game thanks to you.

We will be streaming a live gameplay session tonight (6/13/2017) at 8pm Pacific Time over at http://www.twitch.tv/scrapingbottomgames

Stop by and ask questions and check out Fictorum.

Oh please tell me this is an easter egg in the game

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

It will be for sure.

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

what are you gonna do about users being divided between reddit and imgur?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Woohoo!

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I remember when you guys first announced this game and it was just a white landscape... *Sniff* they grow so fast... ;~;

8 years ago | Likes 1231 Dislikes 2

Stop sniffing the white landscape. You never know when you'll get pulled over

8 years ago | Likes 451 Dislikes 2

v remember the mighty downvote spell?

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

WAAAAT!?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same here. I loved the idea of custom spells, and now seeing what they added...i can't wait for it to be released so I can throw money at it

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Throwing money at it could mean having an actual booth at E3.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I don't pay attention to E3 it's all lies. No game looks the same during E3 as they do after.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm fine with Fictorum protesting E3 even when they have enough money for a booth. I like the digital booth. (@OP)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One can hope...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Did you say destructible environments? That's my jam, i'm sold. Nobody does that enough.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually looks better then most big name games. Just make the story good and you'll be pullin money like a drug dealer at a rehab center.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That's oddly specific

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I liked the parts with the magics.

8 years ago | Likes 346 Dislikes 3

What if you accidentally destroy something? And if you do that to a building, is the loot gone too?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Looks really cool. I hope there is magic that utility instead of just blow it up with this element or that element.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

There's shield spells, if I remember correctly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it has so much esports potential too! (At least in my completely unprofessional opinion)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks very cool. Thanks!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks cool! Dynamic spellshaping is an interesting mechanic, i hope this turns out well.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thanks for including all the pixels! :D And this looks like a lot of fun!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks good, love the passion and persistence!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

#1: Fuck everything in that general direction

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That got a good chuckle out of me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

/bow I look forward to playing the game!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks boring

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I have been following this for a while now and I am way excited. Keep up the good work.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

now obviously the rest of the gameplay isn't an FTL clone, but the exploration is ripped directly from FTL... "heavily inspired"...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"Oh great, some cheap action RPG that probably--" *Fire rains from above, house explodes*

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

how much does it cost to set up a booth at E3 just curious?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Around $20k if I'm remember that right.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks way too easy

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I backed it and still play it, it's surprisingly hard. Enemies deal a ton of damage and can quickly get to you faster than you can cast.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Until some bloke with a pointy stick manages to sneak up behind you.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Every structure can be explored and looted" I'M IN! !

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This and Hellpoint are probably my most anticipated games right now

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hellpoint?

v

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If this is PC only, I may just finally have to sack up and get a proper gaming PC.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Ugh - I only have Macs to game with. I'm with RedditOnTheJob - I may have to break down and buy a PC...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Will hope for PS4, but I may need to start saving a few grand for a PC.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the plan for the moment. Godspeed to you, @RedditOnTheJob

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the pcmr subreddit will gladly help you configure a tight build to fit your need and wallet.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What engine did you use?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Unreal Engine 4

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's why it looks so beautiful. Nice job it really looks great.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you! :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looking good! Shared with my mates

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you. :)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ok if there is a loot item in a place ...and u blow that place up ...can u still get that loot item?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If so, I'm all over this game. If not, ill pass. Hope this gets answered soon

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Loot is destroyed with it's container. Fortunately, there are 10-20 buildings in each level, so losing one or two in combat isn't a big deal

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also when will this game be able to buy ...and if its going to be awhile give me a copy lol ...gj

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really really really hope you add melee combat to this. The magic is fun and all but I think melee would be a fun little side skill.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

We have an ability called "Spellblade" and while our game isn't built for melee, it's still a bit of fun http://imgur.com/otQ6NcB

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Really cool. But does it look like the characters hover a little bit or is it just me?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*When walking

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now if you can make the swishing swooshing animation of the magic sword/infused weaponry a lot cooler, it'd be a real hit!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I want to thunder punch a mother fucker. Please

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I want to hunt dragons with a Gauss rifle

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Father's day is soon...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hey @OP - This is very important to know. As a gamer, money to show off CGI bullshit at E3 doesn't make a difference to us. This is quality.

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 5

Thank you so much for that. :)

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

You don't have to thank me or anyone. You are working hard and it looks better every single time I see it on Imgur. Keep it up man, it is

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

amazing.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(2) looking awesome. Don't let money influence your creative designs. That's what happened to EA, Boobisoft and Besmellsda.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Fortunately the money seems to have told ea they dun goofed, especially with battlefront.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Electronic Farts

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It's unfortunate that people downvoted this very *ingenious* joke.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha, good one.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Keep at it, gang! looks to be a fun game that's come a long way since the last time i saw you post.

8 years ago | Likes 1281 Dislikes 4

Definitely looks fun..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So did No Mans Sky and their devs were buddy buddy with imgur users for a bit there too. I won't be impressed until it releases

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No joke, it has come LIGHT YEARS since the last post I saw. Great job! Looks badass!

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

So true

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's nice to see a game actually develop. Im an unfortunate fan of survival games and most of then are in infinite early access mode.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks can be deceiving but hopefully they get it right

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks a ton :-)

8 years ago | Likes 243 Dislikes 1

i'd complain to you about shilling but imgur deserves it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I am incredibly interested in this game.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Seriously, I -loved- Magicka because of it's combo magic system so Fictorum's been on my radar. Keep at it, guys, you got a customer here!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There is dozens of us! DOZENS!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was not aware of this title. This looks amazing. Added to my wishlist.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Added my wishlist also, however we will see. I don't pre-order and it will need to be complete with several hours of gameplay before I buy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Demo please!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So few games have demos, demos deserve a comeback.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely. I remember when I was a kid, I'd spend hours on those demo disc's on the PS1.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pc only?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For the initial release in August, yes. We'll be looking at other ports afterwards.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

PC meaning just Windows, or Mac/Linux as well?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell yes. I'd totally buy this for ps4 and Xbox one and I don't even have an Xbox one.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll hang tight! I only have a Mac and consoles (hey you should make friends with Nintendo and get a Switch port though ;)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The ground isn't destructible?

8 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 2

Nope, objects like this its simple ue4 feature of "destructible mesh", but ue4 doesn't include terrain editing module into shipping builds >

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

> so having any terrain changes, requires subtential programming investment.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's pretty much what I thought. I bet 99% of the game's code will be UE4, and the other 1% will be bugs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

99.9% is ue4 code, maybe because developers are lazy, maybe because ue4 is like 2kk lines of code and average gameplay feature is like 1k

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well I shouldn't complain. If the game is shit, the preorder idiots get fucked over once more. If the game is good, more power to the devs.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clueless idiot here, but is it possible to have objects that act like a false terrain for destruction purposes (w/ real terrain underneath)?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here i wrote a thing for you. https://pastebin.com/8Vhv0w6i

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great explanation. Thank you. The price you estimated for a feature like that definitely helped put the problem into perspective.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Correct. Was a little bit beyond our ability to make the terrain go kablooey

8 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 2

That, and we'd all end up fighting at the core of the planet before long.

8 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 1

It would become mole wars in two minutes.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Mole Wars needs to be a thing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now I want destructible terrain even more.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I, too, can't find the problem in this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, maybe they will make a second one with it. Or manage to add it in some way later on :) All the more reason to help them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, ignoring crazy special effects, can you hide some geomodding under some dust and smoke?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you using unreal engine 4?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes we are!

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you need to literally and figuratively step your game up.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 27

Why don't u make a game superstar

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

It was just a pun. This game actually looks super cool.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Future dlc or V2 perhaps?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

Would probably require a complete engine rewrite and more processing power than is currently available at a reasonable price.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Games like Space Engineers and Medieval engineers do whole destructible planets, though small planets.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and not much else.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah just have a limit to the destructible area. Gives the feel without the headaches. Still alot of work tho

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can I be a girl?

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Did you just assume the protagonist's gender?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

look at those flowing robes, are you sure you are not a girl?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can he whatever you what :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not at release, it's one of the things I personally want added after release, but we just didn't have the budget for it.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Any ETA on female gender after release? This game looks phenomenal, btw; I'm a huge fan of the magic theme and the power the PC can wield.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ok! Understandable. Still looks fun.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to say "lame," or anything, but I'm in the same boat. As exciting as it looks, I won't be buying without a female avatar.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But... Witcher

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't play Witcher for the same reason. Even though it looks great, I just can't connect to the story with a male protagonist.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, same.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that's pretty lame, to be honest.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 13

It's not a small task to add a fully animated character. Especially not a main character that will be in focus all the time.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I know. I just feel that if you are making a RPG in the western style and you don't let me play grill, I'm not gonna play. My prerogative.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Who knows, maybe if enough people buy the game, they'll have enough money to fully integrate a female character.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Naturally, but this also mean it's someone else's prerogative to call you lame for it. ;)

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1
