I love the Alien films but the survival instincts of some characters are woeful. Kane just touching a strange egg in a Alien craft, the marines just pushing on into a Alien hive, touching the snake thing in Prometheus and my favourite in Covenant, the entire crew landing on a strange planet and just going out and breathing the air with no respirators or enviro protection suits.
"I have no intention to leave this ship here. We'll bring the Lewis&Clark to a safe distance and bomb this ship with missiles until I'm satisfied that its destroyed". Loved it, no bullshit. Something is very fucky, we wanna go home, lets leave and blow the ship to pieces. Also, the black guy survives. Didn't expect that.
The fact that this happens also while the entire crew (iirc, its been a while) is still alive is wild too. Usually this happens when at least a few have been turned to paint.
They seem to be reliant on crashing starships, given they have Rick's tech I assumed they "assisted" in the crashes. Admittedly you are right they are still very limited in population.
I think they meant it more in that if one were to die, say from being smashed by a ship the species could never replace it cause they dont due multiple eggs on reproduction

Look, you missed the economic horror aspect of this movie. It's fine, economics is boring, the monster is ultimately a spreadsheet.

Deadpan "We're leaving." On of my favourite lines in any movie.

Crazy Scientist: You can't leave it behind? Captain: I'm not leaving it behind, I'm gonna nuke the fuck out of it.

"We're back, Ash. Open up." "Did you bring a dangerous creature that the corporation can weaponize?" "Um..." "Back you go, guys."
Volimar
The problem is they brought the wrong Ash.
GemsAreOutrageousTrulyTrulyTrulyOutrageous
Unfortunately, Ash's chainsaw would get wrecked early on from acid blood.

Also Father Vito Cornelius in The Fifth Element, Zach Braff's dad in Garden State, and numerous other roles.

Ok so a flaw in that episode is that each egg is one face puppeteer and each face puppeteer lays one egg then dies, how do they multiple?
