Can do

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a far more effective protest. They have probably been loving the huge spike in engagement the last few days

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

i'd say, a month. I don't even visit the site so often. I may add some photos to it couple times per week. And toss a comment now and then. This year have been busy though.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's my secret. I never upvote

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah because if you go silent and give them a break then they win they can ban easier they can stop the floodgates keep the pressure on them Don't give up The person that keeps repeatedly posting this is a part of their plan this is a Honeypot don't fall for it.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm down. That's a holiday anyway. I've got PC gaming, bowling and movies scheduled.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not just stop posting or liking. Don't open the app/website. We can do one day guys! September 1st it is!

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Except the bots will keep posting.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok i wont. For a week. No opening this rotting corpse

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Alternate plan: try to make the actual world better in real life. Use imgur to decompress sometimes. Eventually the fascists lose and we build a utopia.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m down for it

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll do my part by blacking out entirely, forever.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Post the gif

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if we just continue berating them and don't give up our freedom of speech

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was thinking the same thing this morning. Complete blackout, once a week - for fun :)

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can do that...

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do it for a month. One day is nothing. A full month of no ad revenue would signal an alarm

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay this is my last comment for a week at least. Not going to open from now on. See you on the other side <3

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Users unaware of the strike will strikebreak/scab without being aware of the action. This just feels like a plot to make us stop posting fuck medialabs and intergalactic quality gifs from behind an adblocker.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Way ahead of you, I barely post already!

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A week would send a bigger message. We should go for that, first week of September.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let's do it

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Did whoever start this explain why they'd want to downgrade the general strike+picket line that has been going on to a boycott? A boycott means that the small portion of active users who are boycotting leave the site to operate for the scabs who don't want to.

Picketing means that the vast majority of users who come here just to see cats and tits turn away rather than browse the site. That would far outweigh the relatively few actively participating in the picketing.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One day protests do nothing. It needs to be longer

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

A real boycott would involve everyone deleting their accounts. I'll be doing that when imgcat or whatever it's called is up and running

1 month ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Nah, upvote everything day, but ALL day. Dont abandon, make the site unmarketable.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Or discuit.org. imma delete everything over the next few days, been here since 2014 and i will not support another twatter.

1 month ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Block ads at the DNS level by changing your DNS settings to use an ad blocking DNS server like dns.adguard-dns.com. I don't see a single ad on mobile with this.

1 month ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I just straight up have adguard installed on my phone and use that.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Should we also stop paying for the site too?

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

As soon as they start making and posting all the content.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You pay for this?

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

None of us do. I forgot the /s

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Tag: "Boycut" ? Are you jewish?`

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To be actually helpful: The correct term is: boycott

1 month ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Thanks! I just thought it was funny, didn't really think that far :)

1 month ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

1. Could be Islamic
2. You magnificent manifest bastard!

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Is it also a Christian thing or just happens to occur commonly in Christian nations

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lmao, non native speaker.

1 month ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

No worries, I didn't mean it as criticism, I just thought it was funny :)

1 month ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

If this is going to happen, we would probably need a lot of users to start posting this *a lot* to get the word out in time. Otherwise I don't see it happening - people won't join the protest if they don't know about it, and with international users, that means repeated exposure for at least a full 24 hours to reach most users.

1 month ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 3

Thank you.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is some confusion about the date though.
Some want to move it to the 3rd because of 50501 protests in the US.
I don't see the conflict, but here we are...
Might just do both dates...

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Going to the protests would mean not being on imgur anyway, not sure what the trouble is, but either way is good.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Someone said they didn't want to "steal attention" from the protests, but I reeeeeeeally don't think there is any chance of Imgur stealing **ANY** attention from that. There just isn't an overlap in news coverage.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reposted!

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Reposted twice, will rererepost some more

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I recommend making minor changes to the image each time, doesn't even have to be visible, just to change the image's digital "fingerprint".

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Im starting with the man in the mirror ;)

1 month ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Sure - my point is that a single person boycotting imgur for one day can't even be statistically measured. Numbers are important in this context.

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Help me repost it then!

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I will, I was just gauging if this was getting some traction first, but now it is on the frontpage, so that seems to be the case.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Also: Done.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

dont even visit the site. not a single viewing. let them see how bad it can drop. ads dont care if you upvote or upload, but not loading the page = no ads viewed = no revenue. and aside from a few bots, this would certainly hurt them

1 month ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 3

I think it would hurt them more to do upvote everything day, but every day. If we bolt they can try to attract more users, need to make the site unmarketable.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

With 41 million US members, it would be just a drop in the bucket if you didn’t visit the site. You should consider not paying them for the use of the site instead.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Let me correct that. 41M
US monthly unique visitors

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

uBlock says "Hi"

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

was gonna say, I've been behind so many adblockers that I forgot that imgur even HAS ads...

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

oh i got them too, but they can use the argument 'we have so many visitors a day' to sell ads. if we drop the views, they will feel it.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True, but engagement is keeping ppl on the landing pages for longer, giving the ads longer exposure time, hence making the ads less valuable by not engaging.

1 month ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

feels like if no one shows up it'd be even more devastating. imagine going from millions of visits a day to barely a few thousands. that will sound all alarms
