I absolutely love miniatures. Especially art miniatures. I have quite a few. Polar Bear by Pompon, Rodin's Thinker, a Remington (Bronco Buster) This one is exceedingly well done. It would be VERY expensive.
I've got a VR experience thing that lets you walk around inside a world based on Salvador Dali paintings, and watching these things stride past is pretty intimidating.
Everybody always thinks of the melting clocks, but the way he painted animals was incredible. Also funfact, that should always be shared, he has a painting called The Great Mastubator.
I had a book of Dali paintings as a kid, and that one has always TERRIFIED me cuz of the grasshopper clinging to the face. And then I found out in high school or college that Dali had acridophobia like I do. How he managed to put his fear aside to paint those ugly bugs is beyond me, cuz I can't even look at them without getting massive heebie jeebies.
I live in Oklahoma. We get tons of gigantic, finger-length bird grasshoppers every summer. I have indeed had these things in or on my face multiple times in my life. Also crawling up my pants legs, hiding in the laundry basket, flying in my car window when I pull into Sonic, brought in by the cat...
Often times when making art it’s easier to break things down by small simple shapes and lines rather than the whole of the parts. Maybe that was his process too, and it made it easier to handle.
Not their fault. The times I try to type it out, auto-correct never seems to work with it and I have to google it. Then the problem comes on and I’m the one mAstHUr-bAtetIng to some very weird stuff.
I went to the amazing art exhibit of his work at the St. Petersburg Dalí art museum in FL.
I’ve always loved his work but I had no idea how much he would put his love of all things science into his work as well as his religious faith. It made me realize so much more about his work.
If you have the chance to visit the museum, plz do. Also, stop at the Sunken Gardens down the road and take some droogs, it’ll blow your mind.

Who's the artist? Not Dalí but the person who made the miniature.

What is this, an elephant for ants?!?

Cool little random fact about Elephants I learned years ago. An Elephant will not step anywhere it cannot reach with it's trunk.
