#40 What is the median?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#6 some days i wonder “is my dyslexia really *that* bad? like rly?” then i remember how much i read by pure pattern recognition and partial context clues, leading me to having first read Slipknot’s name incorrectly as “SinkPot”, very confidently thought that was the name, never even halting or questioning it when reading it again. until one day someone said it out loud and my brain clicked……

#1 Take home pay is 1500 dollars, rent is 1000 dollars, power, water, phone, and car are 400 dollars. That leaves 100 dollars left over for food and savings. How long can you live with just a savings account, do you think?

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

$1000 rent? Are you renting Harry Potter's under the stairwell room?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cheapest apartment in my city is 900 bucks a month, and the average is 2400 bucks a month. I assumed they went as cheap as possible. The fact of the matter is, housing is stupid fucking expensive.

#40 I also like to just make shit up.

Median income is 48k. Median household income is 80k

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thank for for saying it. There's a reason for using average, and a reason for using median as a measure of central tendency - to exclude outliers.

The difference between average income and median income IS interesting, as well as the way the average changes by excluding different numbers of outliers, though. Really does give you an idea just how skewed the distribution of income is.

#1 "I live in America"

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

#40 in some ways overstates and in some ways understates the situation. The low numbers include part-time workers- actual median wage for full time is about $60k according to the BLS. But GDP per worker is about $150k. So typical workers are currently getting a little over a third of the value they generate.

#1 Because my wage just covers the cost of living. Some months I manage to put maybe £100 into savings, but I usually end up needing it for the aforementioned "living" anyway.
My retirement plan pretty much relies on inheriting my parent's 4 houses.

#1 Tell them to get out a pen and paper and do the fucking MATH. Or move out of their parents' house and try to live on their own. I'm almost 60 and I'm watching these "kids" try to get by today. Fuuuu.... Most of my life, my income was insufficient to achieve any significant savings either. And that was with a decent education and student loans in the low four digits.

As far as I know ICP has no sexual assault allegations...

#1 - pretty sure "I live and work in America" is also both a correct and acceptable answer.

#2 Why are they using the Ubuntu logo to signify Linux compatibility?

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

because they tested compatibility on ubuntu next question

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably because they couldn't find a Linux logo that fit the theme of the other ones? I can't find any simplified, minimalistic Linux icon on Google, just a bunch of drawings of penguins, many of which are multi-colored.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Steam used a monochrome version of the penguin before they started using the Steam logo (on account of SteamOS on the Steam Deck). I see no reason they couldn't do the same here.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It doesn't match the aesthetic since it's a drawing of a penguin while the rest are minimalist shapes. Beyond that, they didn't want to use the penguin logo; since you're not the one who made the chart, that's all the explanation you should need if you're not being pedantic.

#20 My brain says option A, give myself the best chance to survive. But my heart says option E, really make those cryptids fear humanity

1 month ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Considering how bulky all that tactical gear and an AK+ all that ammo would be and how limited the armor would be against claws or ghosts I think I'd be better off with the double barrel. A 6'5 naked gigachad meme guy on bath salts may very well be a match for most cryptids though...

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I would pick option C. I bet those priests are slower and tastier than me. Also, they look catholic. So I, might even save few children in the process.

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

i mean... it might be the most effective way for the cryptid NOT to seek for you, so you can walk out alive in the morning... some might think "i can take him" with the other options... but it gets a different meaning with E....and to be fair it should have been named option D for a double joke

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

None of the options will save you from Shia LaBeouf

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I’m struggling between D and E. E is gonna end up traumatizing the cryptid, but I tend to feel safer around dogs. So I guess I’m debating on whose feelings im prioritizing.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Take it out" suddenly gains another meaning here

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel that. Sure, the gear might be heavy, but every other option that has a piece of gear for visibility makes it so that you have to make your location known in order to see, A is the only option for visibility that doesn't immediately mark you out. Shotgun may well be better for something moving quickly through the woore in general, especially if it needs to get up close, but if you're a confident enough shot an automatic rifle isn't necessarily a deal breaker

#3 take out the square pretzels. I don't need the redundancy if I'm trying to have a balanced meal.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

then surely it must be the circle pretzels that must go. for they are less pretzel and therefore, inferior.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Goblin brain likes the texture of the circle more and the different kinds of click clack you feel with the other pieces. I'm happy that we're focusing on the important part of this mixture.

Or really, it's the other way around. Ghost is KISS for zoomers.

#2 I've heard blender of all things is actually a viable video editor. Haven't tried, but will when the need rises. I would love to use Davinci, but on Linux it does not support any video format that is reasonably compressed.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Resolve renders far faster on Linux than Windows but as you said doesn't support a lot of the better modern higher compression codecs. What I've been doing is using Resolve on a Windows machine to do the editing off a network share, pass the project to Resolve on Linux to do the export to a larger intermediate container type, then pull the finished export into Handbrake to transcode into something smaller. Convoluted but it works, and frees up the Win PC faster.

I've seen the cracked stuff in certain harbors and ports, but I don't know how trustworthy they are and whether like in the days of Kazaa and Limewire, I would risk giving my PC AIDS.

I suggest also Pixlr Editor (https://pixlr.com/editor/) as an alternative to Photoshop. it's a free, browser-based image editor with a similar interface and feature set, though it includes ads.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, only that you recognise dreamweaver at all. I would give you all my sympathies, but there are people out there using the GIMP interface right now...

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I don't really mind the gimp interface. I'm one of those mad people that kicks the "new" interface into legacy mode because I've used it too many years at this point

Stuff like this is hillarious: It's only a big deal because the US made it into a big deal by throwing a global tantrum about it for multiple decades.

Ain't no-one making fun of literally any other attack in history, because no-one else turned it into a theater to be performatively mad about and put it on blast for 1/4 of a century.
