Just went through some Youtube videos of homemade cymbals. Don't recommend. Generally really bad sound.

This seems like a blue man group musical instrument

Seeing as how I'm a drummer and have never before seen anyone using one of these...what's the actual application? I can't think of anything other than 'They Might Be Giants' style comedy-themed music that could successfully use such a....goofy sound

I probably wouldn't add it to my drum set, but just for trying out how different materials / shapes sound as a hi hat... this looks like a fun experiment - even, if you toss it at the end.

On 2nd listen...I can't decide whether it goes into no Tool songs...or ALL of them...

I remember a famous cymbal maker had a video inside it's factory, but it disappeared very quickly sighting that the accidentally revealed trade secrets.

Rolf Harris would rise from the grave after hearing this. Then he needs to be sent right back before he did any more assaults.

I still remember seeing this. It was a good day.

Is he dead? I thought he was just in prison. He died? What?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup. He died in his own home from neck cancer aged 93, shortly after he finished his prison sentence.

Or peter Gabriel

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Had to look it up to make sure your reference was to the music and not to the "being dead" part (he's alive at 75!)

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, not dead thankfully lol

His name also sprang to mind as soon as I saw and heard the video. I know what he had done was wrong and rightly served time but I still felt a twinge of sadness as he did inspire me to get into doodling when I was a kid in the 1970s, so I did look up to him as a "hero". Although Tony Hart was more influential in terms of me getting into art.

just thinking about Vision On I can hear the theme tune.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yes! I loved that. It was the first programme with deaf viewers to mind (I have severe hearing loss from birth). Take Hart (then Hart Beat) were good in themselves and are what got me into drawing but Vision On is what really did it for me. I also loved Rolf Harris's Cartoon Time as he used to do sketches in between cartoons but that was in more innocent times.

(Sorry for steering this thread off topic)

not at all, I'm also of the vintage that would sit down as a child and watch Rolf drawing, singing, telling stories. Unfortunately due to his actions it's basically impossible to find any of the shows that he produced, I'd love to watch some again.
