Your a college kid and you run into a group of Veterans making jokes that fall far outside of the accepted Safe Space zone.

I went to a fairly liberal arts college. I still don't understand where these stereotypes come from. Cal Arts or something?

It's funny because he's making fun of college kids but doesn't know the difference between your and you're.

In in a Corps of Cadets. We have safe zones set up in the barracks...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

What school do you go to?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Virginia Tech

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like someone called you an asshole for your tasteless sense of 'humor' and you got triggered. Do you need a safe space?

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

So... are we just not going to say anything? YOU'RE*

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Pussy

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

You're* sorry

Looks like @OP is another snowflake that can't even tell their own jokes on Imgur...

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 13

As an actual college student: Bitch where?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I hope you guys find a place to get away from these PC ppl that bother you so much. You know, some zone where you feel safe.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 4

Op is getting called out hard with these replies...

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 4

YOU'RE clearly not a college kid

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 4

I was for 5 years. I would have to say this is highly accurate.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you're (another vet getting all up in your safe zone)

8 years ago | Likes 280 Dislikes 9

Thank you for your service.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Indeed... clearly @OP is not a college kid.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Exactly. Or maybe he attends Ohio State

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

LOL

Having worked or studied at 6 universities over the last 12 years, I've honestly never encountered the 'college students' Imgur talks about.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

It tends to be the big city campuses and there aren't as many of them as the media implies

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suppose, but four of those six were in cities over a million people, and a couple were 50k+ student campuses.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a higher ed consultant, regularly visit campuses throughout NA ranging from Oberlin to Liberty and haven't encountered any yet.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Typical liberal establishment shill!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see that most of the comments are about grammar. That's always some weak sauce.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To clarify, safe spaces in general are sanctuaries. Ex: In an LGBT+ safe place , LGBT people don't have to worry about getting beaten up.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Vets are like vegans. Youll always know when you've met one, because they'll always tell you.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 9

My SO had no idea until we had been dating for like 6 months.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That's very far from the truth. A lot of people tout it. A lot of people do not.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not the ones that saw war.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Have a colleague who was a warehouse clerk in the Navy for 4 years, never left Chicago. She is all about her "veteran" status.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True. Its not something that wants to be relived.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You're**

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Picture this: an edgy college kid making some PTSD and war jokes around some veterans. Whose safe space are you gonna upvote then?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 234 Dislikes 16

I've seen more grown-ass conservative adults cry over disagreement or words they don't like than any group of college kids. Shit's stupid.

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 6

Pepperidge farm remembers when the word gay used to mean happy.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Bet @OP mocks the usage of the word "triggered," even though it started with veterans

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 5

*yer

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Folks, get over yourselves with the safe space complaints. It's 19 year-olds making those decisions. They'll learn better in the real world.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Ha, they have to be veterans to give the story balls.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

"When your a college kid" you know when to use your and you're. God damn it you fuckin twat.

8 years ago | Likes 194 Dislikes 10

*fucking

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Bahaha it's disgusting isn't it?

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Not really...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

No one deserves to be accepted to a university with that level of grammar

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He made a mistake. You responded like the fucking twat here. Fuck all the way off.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You clearly have no fucking idea what you're talking about

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You get 162 points for calling someonw a fucking twat for using the wrong your/you're. But I get downvoted.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I've met lots of college kids who don't know the difference. Certain individuals struggle with language while others excellerate your breath

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 10

Jesus, you're just as ignorant as the person you're defending.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

...accelerate?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Excel gum jingle for those who are confused

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol at least someone got it. I was gonna end with "while others excel." But it always makes me think of the gum commercial!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You get 162 points for calling someone a fucking twat for using the wrong your/you're. But I get downvoted.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't worry, Comrade. I, too, support the equal distribution of fake Internet points. As you can see, I am only a poor comment farmer.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The struggle is real. I was only joking with you! Have a good day, sir/mam/apache.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

then where is your perfect punctuation?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 15

Let me check my pocket:

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You did not capitalize your sentence.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Go to college, work at a college, still don't know what the hell "Safe Space" is. AFAIK Internet Bullshit. Maybe just not a U.S. thing?

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

I thought it was exclusively a(n extremely blown out of proportion) US thing?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought it was some phenomena that started in the U.K., I thought I remembered Richard Dawkins talking about it. See, nobody knows.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something blown out of proportion to make a more tolerant society sound awful.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

AA is a safe space. A book club is a safe space. You don't know what safe spaces are, and yet your ass is so sensitive you can't abide them?

8 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 8

Sounds to me like @op is triggered at the thought of safe spaces. What a snowflake.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 6

Curious as to how a book club is a safe space.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's a group with a consensus discussion norms. e.g. Talking about politics instead of the book would be out of bounds and is discouraged.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

That's not a "safe space", though, that's just a group with a specified purpose. Within those bounds people are still able to voice (1)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

opinions and ideas more or less freely. Not to mention that the rules of such discussion will depend on the group.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That IS all a safe space is. It's been misrepresented to malign college kids & now You're rejecting anything but the straw-man definition.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't think I'm able to just accept that at face value. Not when I'm seeing descriptions like "where no one is made to feel (1)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes, that literally is a "safe space." this is the kind of stuff people are talking about when they call for "safe spaces."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

AA is a "safe space" in that they wouldn't tolerate someone coming in and going "pfft, you guys are fine, alcoholism isn't really a thing."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

such as?

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

A machine gunners joke: I have a bullet with your name on it. I'm going to keep firing till I find it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This post doesn't have a leg to stand on, much like many veterans i run into.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm very pc and I have a hard time imagining anyone would get up in arms about these jokes. They're all fine

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

In my class the other day, a girl got "triggered" by a war story that a fellow vet shared. This stuff really happens.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"You're telling that just hearing about a war I actually survived has hurt you worse than that war hurt me? Honey, you should enlist."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Them saying something hurts them doesn't mean anything close to claiming it hurt them "worse" than the vet.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right, but if she's triggered by the story he lived through, and he's not, even though *he's* telling the story, that's what she's implying.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, then by definition, the story is hurting her more than the vet telling it. Just because one person's more resilient than another 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would also like to hear these jokes.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

What brushes your teeth without bristles...? Fat fucking cocks. (I'm not quitting my day job)

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Makes me wish I had a "no unfunny jokes" safe zone.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What's the difference between a school and a Daesh training camp? Don't ask me, I just fly the drone.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

That's a pretty tame joke, mate.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You failed to live up to your username, sir

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

America: We're About to Find Out

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

It's apparently a valid argument to just stereotype. Campuses aren't homogenous. Plus, obnoxiousness & entitlement are found everywhere.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Working in customer service, i can say that white boomers are often either super nice or extremely entitled and sensitive.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work retail at a home "improvement" store, and I gotta say…old white people are the worst. I hope I die before I turn.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As someone who attends college, there is way too much sensitivity going around.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not a good sign when professors start recommending trade school. What happens when higher education silences people?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The same thing when every other group is stereotyped. Stupid happens sometimes, but mostly nothing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in the middle of applying to post-docs right now. I am rather concerned.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some places want fines for using the wrong gender pronoun. That kind of crap pisses people off, and they will vote as un-PC as they can.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 7

I didn't believe it at first either it seemed so ridiculous but politicians in a few places are writing this crap into law and that's scary

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Source?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Higher education has nothing to do with being so easily shaken by social interactions that you can't function in normal everyday life.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Which isn't really a significant problem. Just a bullshit excuse pushed by people upset they can't be assholes anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Which isn't really a significant problem. Just a bullshit excuse pushed by people upset they can't be assholes anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

There seems to be a surging intersection between uh... snowflakes and the social sciences and department administration in higher education

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

It's not people who pursue higher education that draw people's ire, it is rather those who think that that education makes them superior.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 16

Don't forget EMT's, Nurses, Teachers etc. have a tertiary qualification as well.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Is that a significant occurrence? Seems those people are just shitty people and exist in all groups.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would like to think that the ratio of shitty people to non-shitty people is the same in any demographic - except the shitty people group.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the press is prone to give the most extreme personalities more attention hence groups with a genuine issue get branded.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We see the SJW who gets triggered because "Manager" starts with "Man" instead of the waitress who has her ass grabbed every 5 minutes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We see the guy in the trailer park who got hit by a tornado instead of the local business man who's store was destroyed by the same tornado

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, those that think NOT having higher education makes them superior.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I agree with you: the problem is people trying to make their opinion more relevant than others based on x trait.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Feeling superior at all really is the problem. Rick Sanchez can prove everyone's a piece of shit mathematically though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

EMTs, nurses, public safety folks, military... Dark humor is a necessity for anyone confronted with the worst of what's Real.

8 years ago | Likes 688 Dislikes 14

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't feel like college kids are offended by dark humor, speaking from experience. Racist and sexist humor, yes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After i started working as an IT Tech/consultant. Man have i learned and said the most fucked up jokes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget the veterinary profession. We've seen shit, literally so much.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Student nurse here: we were having a ball doing CPR training, I find that it is always good to see humour in your workplace

My dad is an EMT and with everything he has seen I'm pretty sure he has some mild ptsd and depression, it's really sad so I do my best 1/2

To make him happy and smile because being an EMT is probably one of the most least respected jobs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I dont think it really matters where you work, people just have different senses of humour.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's either that or clean slate after each shift

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Infantryman here. Talking about gruesome shit/ just enjoying being in shitty conditions (embrace the suck) I get looks and they don't get it

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Agreed, i was a Correctional Officer about 13 years back, to this day my friends tell me my humor is a bit... off.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True for forensic scientists as well

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Racist jokes don't make you racist, sexist jokes don't make you sexist, and dark jokes don't make you dark. It all just helps with reality.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mom is a nurse, can confirm that nurses have really fucked up humor. I think that's why i'm the way i am and everyone think i'm a psycho

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. My 4 kids (ages 13, 12, 10, 6) all have a pretty twisted sense of humor. And I have to remind them that not everyone

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

talks about poop, death, and the body as easily or as often as our family. And that most people don't want to hear about it while they eat.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

And teachers, don't forget kindergarten teachers

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Not to start a war, but.... Pretty sure us nurses and medical workers see worse (and say worse).

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think they're saying it's worse, just that your sense of humor gets twisted quickly as a teacher too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You fuckin beat me to it. Middle school math teacher here. I challenge anyone who says teaching is easy to do my job for a week.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I temporarily subbed in for a Sunday school class and everyone though I should be a teacher. I laughed and laughed. I'm good.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh ya, lots of trouble.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

like where they would go on their date

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As a nurse... People outside of the above careers don't enjoy my humor...or dinner conversations...

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

to be fair, people in the medical field also don't enjoy those conversations during dinner. Comparing food to anything medical related 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

As a fellow nurse, I couldn't relate more!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

By that I mean "me too!" Lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's even worse when a few of us nurses get together and really get to talking about the day. hah! I need more nurse friends d/t this.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As a 911 operator and EMD i love how people will ask me about work and calls. idk what they lose interest after a little story time.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm pharmacy school I studied with a classmate during lunch with the book open no matter how graphic.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I studied in the middle of starbucks. Fun times, great conversation starter.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure. Though I'm sure most were grossed out. Any positive reactions?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had some good conversation about it. And naturally medical people always struck up convos, and baristas liked asking about it. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is just gonna make me sad about my food. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't compare it to food, it's more so "What'd you do today?" "Cleaned out some stage 4 ulcer the size of my fist." "...ew"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seriously. I'm an xray tech, and most of my friends are nurses. The majority of our dinner talks steer towards enemas and whatnot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It definitely comes with the territory. Lol It's normal to talk about your day! Our day just happens to be filled with that stuff. lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
