My comfort movies, because I’ve had a rough week.

Sep 28, 2019 10:52 PM

Dawn of the Dead, when I need to pretend the world is ending.

Tombstone, because it’s fucking awesome. I can recite this movie, I’ve watched it so many times.

Supertroopers, also pretty close to recitation status.

Tropic Thunder, when I need to see shit blown up.

Casablanca, because it has some of the best dialogue in cinematic history.

Titus Andronicus, because sometimes you just need to watch everyone die.

Hot Fuzz, because do I really need to explain why I love this movie?

HTTYD, because pure escapism.

Let’s Be Cops, because this movie never fails to make me laugh no matter how bad my mood might be.

Love Actually, when I need to laugh and cry. Also, Alan Rickman.

John Wick, because sometimes you need to see some justice when the world is lacking.

Shawn of the Dead, because it’s my fave zombie movie.

The Fifth Element, because I never get tired of the Diva scene. Or any other part, really.

Mr. Right, because this movie somehow restores my hope and faith in the weird goodness of people.

Dogma, because Alan Rickman. I should have included the Harry Potter movies in this list.

The Fuckin Goonies! I’ve had this movie memorized since my teen years.

And the newest addition to my list, Thor Ragnarok. This flick is hilarious and perfect for when I’m low.

Dog tax: my cuddle bug. Sad, frustrated, depleted, sick, defeated, he’s always ready with the cuddles. EDIT: holy shit, guys, you’ve mentioned so many good movies that I missed and several that I don’t know. Thank you! Time to watch some new movies! And you all never fail to bring a smile to my face. I love this community.

If you enjoy vigilante justice movie how about, equalizer and taken (the first ones not the for profit sequals). Also Man on fire and the

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fifth Element, all time favorite. My brother bought Bevis and Butthead tickets and snuck us in to Fifth Element. It was meant to be my fave.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My go-to when I'm feeling down isn't a movie, it's a cartoon. Gravity Falls never fails to cheer me up.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Might as well watch "the worlds end" since you have the other two movies.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

And then Scott Pilgrim and Baby Driver to complete Edgar Wright's body of work.

Well, these movies make a whole lot more sense now.

HTTYD... my favourite animated film ever since the first time I got to see it~

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good list. I'd include The Mummy, Die Hard, Pitch Black, Jurassic Park on my own list.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Dude, great list! I love the Mummy!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Man, 'Pitch Black' (and 'Alien'/'Aliens') scared the fuck out of me growing up. Those creatures were brutal as fuck.

Sam Rockwell is an actor who is so entertaining that if he's in the movie I'll watch it.

6 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

I first watched it because of Anna Kendrick but fell in love with the movie because of him. He made the movie perfect

As you wish.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There also a shame if they try to remake this perfect movie

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

True wov for this movie!

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Alright for those unfamiliar with Titus Andronicus, it's just Shakespeare with an extra large order of death and depression.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This movie is death on steroids. Deathiest of all Shakespear's work imo

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, people might know the romances, comedies, and tragedies, but some Shakespeare stuff is like John Wick directed by Tarantino.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And the film was executive produced by Steve Bannon. Yes, THAT Steve Bannon.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

By far his greatest play. Its just so wonderfully brutal.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't think I've heard anyone ever call that his greatest play, lol. Interesting opinion there. I respect it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My ultimate warm blanket movie is Tommy Boy

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I really dig the Dawn of the Dead remake. Excellent "Reimagining" of the original.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I always had such a weird liking to this movie. Same for Army of the dead...But don't watch Diary and Island of the dead..they are wrong..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not a Snyder fan, but the man knows how to make a fucking intro credits scene. That use of 'When The Man Comes Around' is fucking haunting.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

His after credits scene kind of ruined things for me. The movie ended perfectly. Ambiguous but kinda hopeful.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think the movie holds up that well, regardless, but I was hoping a darker sequel would have been released with that ending.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It keeps the John Romero theme that there are no happy endings. You hope they make it, but everything goes to shit.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love zombies and Romero, but I don’t like the no possible happy endings. And the weak female leads troupe. The remakes help correct the 1

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The latter, so I often hope they correct the former. 2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ok, shit, these are fucking excellent flicks, but they’re not my go-to when I’m sick or emotionally worn out.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's true, but a good laugh is always good. "ya like dags?"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me it's Willow, Transformers the Animated Movie, Big Trouble in Little China, and the Dark Crystal

6 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 6

Love Transformers the animated movie, the death scene always gets me though... Too many feels...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I hope you’ve been watching Age Of Resistance.

Im not sure if there is a better Kurt Russell film than Big Trouble in Little China

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Toss up between that and The Thing for me

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Overboard.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Chris Pratt does a dead on Kurt Russell voice in Lego 2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

'The Thing', 'Tombstone', 'Tango & Cash' (for me, anyway), 'Stargate', 'Miracle'. Granted, I'm literally watching 'Big Trouble' right now...

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Soldier.... he was great in that... and am also watching "big trouble" now....

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Great list! Add Robin Hood with Kevin Costner and The Princess Bride and you have a comfort sweep.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I'm one of those weird people that has never been into the Princess Bride. Not sure why

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm not gonna downvote you, but I'm disappointed in you - which is worse.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I concur.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know. I also never liked Firefly, and I liked the Last Airbender. I'm an odd one

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I also love the 80's. The Goonies is my designated rainy day movie.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Great show!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How about The Monster Squad?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I loved that movie so much as a kid. I also developed an odd crush on Dracula for some reason.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hahaha who wouldn't!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Goonies with monsters. It's another favorite.
