OSHA......intensifies

My husband had a scull fracture on 12.19.2012. Logger helmet saved his life. This looks like it might have prevented the fracture. He would have worn this. Permanent memory issues, balance issues, hearing loss, tbi loss social skills.

As long as it's not made by Tesla.

So... it saves you when you're hit in the back of the neck by falling lumber just to pound you face first onto a running chainsaw. Sign me right the fuck up!

Goddamn right! A real lumberjack has enough meat on him to feed a family of 3 for close to two months.

No emotionally insecure lumber jack would wear this*

If you respect yourself, you care about your body. Thus, wearing this is the result of more self-respect by default.

No. It has nothing to do about emotional insecurity, it's because it's a useless bit of kit. 1. It's extra weight to carry around on top of all the other kit they need. 2. If it's lightweight enough to not restrict mobility, it's not going to be enough to stop any serious threat reliably. 3. The sorts of branches and stuff that are shown to fall on them in the video are only likely to fall if you're walking directly under where someone is working, something that no professional would do.--

--4. If it's heavy enough to stop larger branches, then it's going to be much too cumbersome to carry, and it doesn't matter if the branch doesn't actually penetrate, that energy still has to go somewhere and it will still cause damage. 5. With how bulky that is, and with the sorts of environments lumberjacks are working in, that provides tons of places that could get snagged. And if you're working with chainsaws, getting suddenly snagged when you don't expect it makes this -more- dangerous.--

--6. The sorts of things that this could protect against are more practically prevented with better work conditions and situational awareness. Plus, existing equipment like hard hats would be more practical.

So yeah, if you respect yourself, and if you care about your body and safety, you definitely wouldn't want something like this as it just makes things worse.
