The office is flooded. The ER is flooded. The hospital is flooded. I’m tired and people are dying. But we’re understaffed and there’s no end in sight. Please PLEASE listen to the CDC recommendations and try to social distance yourself as much as possible. Please only come in for evaluation if you have signs of respiratory distress. Please think of others who are much sicker than you and could die from the choices you make. You can make a difference. Stay smart, stay safe.

In the deep end is never fun but you’ll certainly come out wiser. Just remember to eat and sleep.

"Smooth seas do not make skilled sailors". You're going to be one hell of a doctor after this buddy, good luck, and thanks for your work!!

No, this IS what you signed up for. You just didn't think it would be this bad. Chin up, this is when we need you the most.

Not every doctor is an emergency care doctor.

Point! OP may just have a foot fetish. (And when he finds out the kind of feet who need a podiatrist, still not what he signed up for.)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are no specialists during a crisis.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP People are really dying left and right in the ER from this virus? just curious, is it mainly the elderly?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Same! First year as a nurse and we get all this shit

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is exactly what you have signed up for: Helping people

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for being there for us, Doc.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Actually, you did sign up for this.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go get em !! Good job doc

Imagine the people that joined the military in 2000 for the college money.

Thankyou for your service

Not the same but I spent months trying to find a job... Finally got one last week... At my local supermarket... Its been a rough week

My dad would have said, "That's job security!"

Vote for Bernie. He understands the severity of this pandemic. Bernie has spoken out about our current healthcare system and how unprepared

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

we are to deal with this crisis. Bernie wants free healthcare for all and to stop big pharma from ripping everyone off. Whether you get

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the medical assistance you need should not be determined by how much money you have. We shouldn't be putting the medical needs of our

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

citizens behind a paywall. This is not a cash shop in a video game, this is real life. Please get out and vote for Bernie in the primary!

To be fair... most university degrees didn't cover pandemics!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So you’re to blame for all this?!?

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

First month as an EMT in NYC here! Things are wackadoo

"I'm no helicopter parent; sink or swim bitch."

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m 15 years in. This is how it works. There is always going to be a challenge. The truth is that we always have to be training..

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

14 years in. Cannot agree with this more. There’s always challenges, some days you will feel useless and others you will make 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sleep well at night knowing you made a huge difference. Hold on to those days and forget the others. Thank your nurses too. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yikes... honestly all any of can say is thank you for doing what you do

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Isn't saying global pandemic redundant? Pandemic already means it's global...

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Pandemic can be across 1 or 2 continents, doesn't have to be global always.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, my mistake then, thanks for correcting me

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give the guy a break, it's only his first year as a doctor

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm a janitor and I know it anyway though

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Maybe he’s a doctor like Ross

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s never lupus!

“I have lupus.” .. “No, you don’t.” .. “ok, I’ll take the fibromyalgia then.” .. (rolls eyes)... “That’s not how this works.”

Made me laugh. Thanks.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean. It’s exactly what you signed up for... but best of luck

What you signed up for, but not what they prepared you for*

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

Agree. Did you think there’d be more golf?

Maybe he thought he would have 2 seconds to finish a thought before seeing his next patient. Obviously asking for too much

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

As a pediatrician, now being asked to help run the MICUs at our adult hospital... no it really isn’t.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Hum. No.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

Dude. Basically No one signed up for this. No one really anticipates this.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

Epidemiologists and zoologists literally have seen this coming decades ago.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And yet, they aren’t the nursing assistants or grocery workers or truckers on the front lines here.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's because they aren't grocery workers. They work in hospitals, labs, classrooms, hot zones, etc.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots and lots of people anticipated this. The last administration even set up a team to manage US response.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’m not critical care or emergency medicine. I’m primary care. I have very limited training in this area but I’m drafted anyways.

5 years ago | Likes 181 Dislikes 11

Should have watched more Scrubs. Dermatologists are prolly chilling with a nice cup of tea right now. Also, have you considered vet med?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Hang in there OP. Not quite what you signed up for, but you may never be more needed. I hope.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'm a Primary Care doc here in the UK. Expecting the call to go back to work in A&E any day now.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes, point is, these are transferable skills.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you can make it trough this hell you'll be able to take on anything going forward. Thanks for being a doc may the force be with u.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

The hottest fires make the strongest swords. Best of luck @OP.

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Unless you burn the steel.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(listen here you little shit)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is where you're going to get some of your best training, not just with patient care, but how hard everyone in Healthcare is working 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 2

When the next pandemic hits you'll be better able to help keep your patients in better shape. You've got this. This is when we get to shine.

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

If American politics keep playing like that with budget cuts in peace time ? No, he won't.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm a surgical pathologist.. They're already asking for Dr's with free time in our hospital to help out.. The big wave hasn't even hit yet

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Trial by fire, man

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everything in the future will seem manageable after this. Good luck.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mate you’re going to be up skilled in ways you never imagined in such a short time. You’ll be doing the basics to free up the ITU docs
