#32 touch base: baseball metaphor, means “briefly communicate before moving forward with next steps”
Get on the same page: reading metaphor, means to resolve miscommunication and come to a substantial agreement
Circle back: navigation metaphor, means to return to some kind of unfinished business (communication of status, revisiting incomplete discussions, etc)
Jargon gets overused by incompetent people to sound involved, but it generally begins as shorthand for useful concepts.
#14 the artist did that man a lot of favors. That hat was actually ridiculous and I always forget about it when I rewatch it. It's always a hilarious surprise.

#41 might be she actually means “wallah”, which is an Arabic daily expression meaning “I swear (by Allah)”… we have a lot Arabic migrants in Denmark, and you hear it a lot in those groups
The reason the human chick's bf is the "bad guy" is because he doesn't want a bee around....because he's deathly allergic to bee stings. Like, he'd die. That always bothered me more than the way they chose to portray the bees and their society, which was also bad. It's a bad movie.
There was also the fact that all plants started straight-up dying after like a month of no bee activity, despite the fact that bees only contribute to a plant's reproductive cycle.
To be fair, if he knows the bee is reasonable and intelligent, that's not any more dangerous than being around a guy who has a gun. In fact I'd say it's safer because the guy who has a gun is choosing to have a gun, so you have to think about why that might be.
That's because now it's removed from it's context. It was funny because it made fun of the extremely formulaic sitcoms that made up easily 80% of primetime TV at that time. Those sitcoms were contrived and the characters were narcissistic and rarely had meaningful character growth and nothing that happened mattered a week later... Seinfeld leaned into that and made it blatently obvious, thereby mocking the current system. It was a great show because it was timely, not because it was timeless.
Obviously, genius. That's the show's entire premise, the basis of every joke in it. Humor is defined by subverted expectations. Seinfeld is only funny because you're expecting a traditional 80s/90s sitcom trope, but then it gets subverted. It's only funny if you're familiar with 80s/90s sitcoms and culture in the first place. That's how mockery works, it must be similar to what it's mocking and you must be familiar with what it's mocking for you to grasp the subversion.
Now there are shows that have taken Seinfeld's formula and applied it to more recent culture and events (ie It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and those will seem much funnier because they're more immediately relevant to current events and they had Seinfeld's formula to build off of. But 10 or 15 years from now IASIP will seem tryhard and dated too, because the culture it's mocking will no longer exist, just like the 90's culture Seinfeld was mocking no longer exists.
Yet more possible hate: I don’t think Always Sunny is that great either.
The formula of those shows is always “have a cast of characters who’re all assholes and very weird to make people feel better about how broken they and the world are” (and I’m not shitting on people for being broken here either btw).

You don't have to be into the genre or anything to appreciate its brilliance. It truly is one of the greatest movies ever made. A *perfect* film.

You could teach a class on how to make movies and focus solely on this film.

I’m gonna lodge an opinion that’s probably gonna get a lot of hate: Seinfeld wasn’t that great of a show.

Uh-huh, but not a case of “they saw a schtick that was working and making money so they copied it and just took it to an extreme”.
