What is this terracotta thing? A planter? A baptismal? Seems too deep to be a bird bath. Found in a junk store in Tennessee, USA. Sorry we have no bananas, so water bottle for scale.

Whether it is paint or glazed makes a difference in determining what its original purpose was.

I would say paint as it appears porous. More like a terracotta flower pot than a glazed pottery vase… it’s deceptively light!
