When they think about politics they think about standing on one side of the road and throwing rocks at the people on the other side of the road. Thats why you have to get them to explain. Look at every video where you see their arthritic brains sputter to a halt at basic questions. It forces them to think about the bullshit that they constant regurgitate. If you attack them by giving actual facts they lock down and repeat their memorized dogma. If you ask for a thorough explanation of their side and how it connects to the world around them, they freeze. And in that moment they think. That is how you break them.

Hammering that same tactic over and over will break them out of it. It will take ages, it will take insane amounts of effort and frustration. It is only remotly worth it when dealing with close family that you actually want to salvage. Otherwise its a waste of effort. These are people that fall below the "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" standard. You have to trick them into even moving by convincing them it was their idea the whole way.
