I feel like not enough people are looking passed the birthright citizenship aspect to realize how many civil rights laws have the 14th amendment at its foundation. Segregation, interracial marriage, gay marriage, what’s left of Roe… all sit on the foundation of the 14th amendment. There’s a reason they are going after it and it’s not just birthright citizenship, they want the Supreme Court to pick this amendment apart.

Friedrich Drumpf became a legal US citizen in 1892. Under a single-parent interpretation of native citizenship Donny Slip & Slide would be a US citizen. At the same time, if you ascribe to the claim that birthright citizenship only applied to freed slaves then any person in the US who cannot trace their ancestry back to at least one person who was made a citizen by legal process or legislation is *not* a US citizen, even if their family's residence in North America predates the USA. ->
