"The Trump-Republican budget would be a disgrace under any circumstance. At a time when inequalities of income and wealth in America are wider than they have been in more than 80 years - with the richest Americans taking home near-record amounts of both - the bill is shameful.

Billionaire tax cuts are a policy choice.

Cutting healthcare for millions is a policy choice.

Taking from the poor and giving to the rich is a policy choice.

Make no mistake: Trump and the GOP are choosing to do this.

It's another reminder that in this country we have socialism for the rich, harsh capitalism for everyone else."
- Reich

I seem to be lurching towards plan B. Great. Well, then. I better get to work on the rest of it.

Every time I see stuff like this tagged as "socialism" yo make it sound like a bad thing, I'm like "I guess I'm pro socialism"

Universal healthcare, childcare, and social security. Every person in congress gets these benefits and denies the rest of us the same.

It's gonna trickle down... any moment now...

How America has been gaslit into thinking social democratic policies that are enjoyed by most other civilised nations is a threat is shocking to me.

People been saying this for decades and shit hasn't changed and never will. We are finding out that our democracy doesn't mean shit. Our laws mean nothing to the rich. That it's all just a lie so the rich can stay rich and powerful. Eventually this country will collapse because they got way to greedy by having a fleet of jets and yachts. They didn't learn much from the french revolution where entire noble families were wiped out.

Everyone pays into Social Security and Medicade, it’s not socialism it’s investments.
billionaires don’t pay taxes so they don’t pay into anything

Too many seem firmly convinced that "socialism" (food, housing, health care, education, workers' rights, human rights, etc. for all) is a much bigger threat than plutocracy, kleptocracy, kakistocracy, & fascism.

They've realized MAGA doesn't understand tax cuts for the rich and see it as a meaningless phrase that has no impact on them personally but might benefit them in the future because they are clearly geniuses.

There's also the "taxation is theft" subclass of people who are still caught up on the "no taxation without representation" movement of the OG American Revolution. They seem to think that if they are being taxed, they aren't being represented, especially when their tax dollars go to services and branches they don't like. It's all circular logic nonsense.

Technically if our tax dollars aren't going to services for us, and are instead being funneled into oil subsidies, tax cuts for the rich, and turning little brown children into little black skeletons, then we aren't being represented. In fact, the 2007 Princeton study that shows the rich always get what they want and the voters never do kinda proves the point.

cutting taxes for billionaires raising them for the poor. i know ACAB, but let's be honest, ARAB [all republicans are bastards] and the damage is even worse. Deadlier than police shootings and more damaging to society.

USA is socialist regarding capitalist risk. Profit however is privatized.

"That's Socialism" is no longer a valid argument. Whenever I hear' "that's Socialism" my response is just, Yeah it's fucking awesome isn't it? And just watch the light in their eyes blue screen while their thoughts buffer through this unexpected answer.

Protest is an implied threat: we are doing this within the lines because you seem to be straying outside the lines. It's tough to tell when the consequences really set in. Fuckin soon, I hope.

I'm on disability. I am not a prepper. I am setting up a bugout bag, and working on a plan to get my cat to (relative) safety.

Exactly *how* long am I supposed to wait, exactly? When the money gives out? When I lose my apartment? When I lose my medicare? Notice, there are no 'if's in those sentences...

All excellent questions that no one can answer. Medicare cuts are pretty imminent though. Unfortunately, the red line is gonna be different for everyone. The worst is yet to come, I'm afraid.
