We have 22 Active cases in the entire state. Only 22! It’s just kicked off again after getting out of a hotel used for quarantine.

Our government is doing this to stop a rapid spread and avoid even longer lockdowns.

They’re not fucking around!

We won’t starve or get sick due to lack of food, medicine or health care. Even our pets are being thought of.

Netflix and chill for everyone!

Masks Not mandatory but advised. That’s mainly because they gave us 12 hours notice and lots of people won’t have masks readily available. Mainly because this is our first outbreak since it kicked off in March. We’d pretty much knocked it on the head until a few days ago. Lots of people are understandably annoyed, but there’s no marching in the streets with people screaming “my freedoms!”. I’ll report back in 6 days to let you know how things go. This suit is serious and my state government isn’t fucking around! Peace out imgurians! stay safe, wear a mask and isolate and get tested if you’re unwell. EDIT: as of 1530 hrs (local time) day 1 of lockdown, South Australia has recorded 0 new cases. I’m not confident that will continue, but it’s a bloody good start! EDIT: lockdown ended after 3 days because one moron lied to contact tracers about how he caught COVID. The prick cost the state millions and is unlikely to be criminally charged. I dare say some legislation will now be introduced to discourage such bullshit in the future. In any case, things are open again; albeit with restrictions.

Doing it hard is better than just floundering around.

Canada is floundering around. Trying regional targeted restrictions which DO NOT work. Should have locked down again, now we're screwed.

I'm proud of the way our polls have handled the virus, the majority of the country has been pretty good and finance help has been amazing

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Rule of exponential growth to exponential decay = the earlier you start the decay, the shorter the decay time. Hit it hard early on

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

FYI Adelaide/SA was recently one of the safest places in the world for COVID, so it goes to show that no one can afford to be complacent.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Bring on the vaccines!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a South Australian I am super happy with the measures that have been taken and how quickly they got onto it

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hi from Glenelg Nth ?

Hello from Elizabeth!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hiya!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Australia - 22 cases - lockdown. USA - 11,759,468 cases - still wide open.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

South Australian here. Happy that our government cares about us.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

As an Australian living in the US - take this fucking seriously, wear a mask, wash your fucking hands and ignore Facebook warriors. Love ya

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

On the plus side, for the next six days there won’t be delays on the SE freeway due to roadworks.....

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Right! I rescued an echidna trying the cross the freeway at Stirling, and it was walking faster than the cars.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We’ve had to wrangle a few animals@on the site so far, usually koalas.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for keeping them (and us) safe. You've got our number (SA Fauna Rescue) on hand?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wish I did now, had to grab one the little buggers and put it in my ute, bloody bugger bit me and scratched the hell out of my arm lol

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Victorian and fellow Aussie, I’m glad that my friends and family in Adelaide are in good spirits despite this flare up. All the best!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We need this in the USA but we have too many "my rights are infringed'" idiots here.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good luck! Here (USA) there would be assassination attempts if any leader tried this. There are so many people still against friggin masks!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I winced as I opened the Twitter comments responding to the order. Surprisingly, the majority were "we can do this SA!" & not "MUH FREEDOM!"

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

australia doesn't have the same "muh freedom" origin as the US and values some level of civic engagement, case in point, compulsory voting.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

America is the dumbest country in the World.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The pandemic exposed it to the world. We Canadians knew something was up, but figured it was just the guns. Now we know otherwise.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

God I wish I was in Australia

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol my county has 750 reported today alone

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thinking of you, neighbours! You've got this!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's an opportunity for contact tracing to get ahead of the curve, 6 days won't stop the virus but will allow SA Gov to plan a response.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We don't fuck around in Oz. Sending hugs to SA from Qld. Hang tight people.???????

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

South Australia? Howdy, mate.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The 6 days will be extended because Australians know everything here is still trying to kill us. There's also 4000+ in quarantine pending.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Netflix and chill....for everyone...confined in their own homes...what are you implying step bro?

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Oh no step bro I'm stuck in this house and can't get out

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Maybe not *everyone*... plenty of couples will enjoy it tho.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

See if trump was smart, he woulda used every baby born due to covid as a credit towards any deaths. Then maybe he'd still be president.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But he’s an idiot!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All he had to do was say “Listen to the scientists, masks and stay-at-home are our patriotic duty etc.” Minimal cases and (1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

a LANDSLIDE victory. But he had to be a selfish brat. (2/2)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It wasn't a choice for him. He's who he is.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good job cobbers, we should have had this level of lockdown in Blighty, but Boris is a twatwaffle

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think 6 days is optimistic but sending hugs to SA from NZ

4 years ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 0

Beige, no

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its 6 to start with and a review to decide what will be done for the following 8 I believe

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is, but once you realize they are doing this because of 22! cases. 22. It doesn't take as much time to get that traced and contained

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Yup, if you don't lock down at 22, you will need a worse lockdown at 2200

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That is when NZ locked down... took 6 weeks. Good luck friends see you on the other side.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Meanwhile the us has about 22! (22 factorial) cases

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Thank you. I didn't even think of that. I wish I had!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have no idea what is happening.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TIL there are 1,124,000,727,777,607,680,000 cases in the States at the moment.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If only there wasn’t testing, then there’d be none

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but there will be asymptomatic people who will still be contagious after 6 days.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I didn't mean it was gonna be enough, the incubation period is just too long. I just meant it isn't as insane with only 22 cases

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Theoretically you could find all the contacts in 6 days

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah for fuck’s sake. Most of our weed comes from SA and there have already been shortages in NSW. Stay safe SA, the country needs you

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Pause and reset. Good wishes SA.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Victorian, I’m sorry for you guys. Lockdown is not as bad as it sounds; it works. Sooner you nip it in the bud, the better. Good luck.

4 years ago | Likes 225 Dislikes 0

Cheers. I think our government saw what went down for you guys and decided to get serious quickly. Here’s hoping it works.

4 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

I am honestly curious about how it got out of the quarantine, i suspect idiocy.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bad luck and proved how contagious it is. They think A cleaner picked it up from a surface and took it home. It’s Infectious as fuck!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

as an American

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I love being a Victorian and seeing how we beat this shit

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

What about your buddies who protested because "muh freedoms" ? Stupid, bloody idiots.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What a great model for proving it can be controlled - relatively - quickly if everyone is on board. Can’t imagine where you’d be otherwise

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

USA?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

no one wants to go that far!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh golly you guys must be old, did you ever meet her?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She prefers to be called Vicky

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

700+ to 0. Feels good

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right but does it work? You will see numbers skyrocket again because no one has immunity? Does anything work at this point.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't mind it at all if it hadn't cost me almost all my annual leave. And jobkeeper got cut.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sucks mate.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can't even imagine a city or state trying to mandate this stuff here in USA. Folks would set fire to the capital. Bet this works though...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

weve been here and done it before already, most of us were in lockdown a couple months ago, its easy. 6 days aint shit now

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're a Victorian, God you are old!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*upper class chuckle*

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Working-class appreciation.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Six days?! Those are rookie numbers. v

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup - because we've had zero cases for months, now, and we want to get back to that again soon.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Usa has 35 times more cases/million but everyone here keeps fucking around like it's not real.

4 years ago | Likes 120 Dislikes 6

We truly are fucking stupid. Embracing conspiracy theories over science, facts, and reality is why we're in this position.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd say it's the other way around.. you are where you are and that kick-starts shit loads of conspiracies..

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just so fucking exhausting.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cause MURICANS have RIGHTS! It's the same country struggling with mass shootings, but continues to sell weapons everywhere.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Governor inslee in Washington is trying with a lockdown...people in east wa are calling it mind control to prepare for the new world order..

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Try living in Wisconsin. Our Tavern league is complaining because college towns are sending people home and they don't like that.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aaay, same with Oregon. Our cases shot up over 1000, so they're freezing fold service and such, and everyone's throwing a fucking tantrum

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Switzerland and Washington state have roughly the same population Wa state: 1800 cases per100k. Switzerland 3000 per 100k...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We have 22 new cases confirmed ever 10 seconds.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Every 10 milliseconds*

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really 22X6X60X24=190,080 22 cases six 10 second periods per minute 60 minutes per hour 24 hrs /day. 190K cases per day slight exaggeration

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... It was a joke of embellishment, highlighting how crazy our transmission rate is in the US. Never mind though, you killed it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just like all my relationships.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also that number isn't so far off, we have had multiple days with 100k+ cases soo

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The percentage of mindless morons in the USA seems high to me.

4 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 4

Based on the election, less than half.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It comes from the top. Having health officials and leadership at war with each other divides their followers equally.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Texan, I’m scared

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

At least you have your guns to fight the antifa. They issue them to Texans at birth, correct? (Former rural Texas resident not born there)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in the US. Can confirm.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

bro, our contry is spoiled asf. don't be surprise.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so many typos >.>

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's way higher than I expected and I live here. I didn't realize I was surrounded by so many Trumpers and Covidiots. I trust no one anymore

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It's not genetic, it's not magic, & it's not a statistical anomoly; that leaves environment as the likely cause. When the environment is ->

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the cause, demonizing the individual just adds insult to injury & draws attention away from the real issue. I dunno if it's fucked up ->

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

education or what, but it hurts my heart to see people being laughed at and diminished for what is obviously already a debilitating ->

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

condition. Yes, they are morons, & I'm a hypocrite, but I think the solution will necessarily involve restoring dignity, & not more insults.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its not just being stupid but also callous. People just gave up when it didnt get better and now dont care about the consequences

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

No, they just dont think about the consequenses, because "it wont happen to me", they will be demanding for help when it hits them ->

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The thing just is that they cant understand that the idea of the quarantine is to slow down the spread, but now when they do get it, the ->

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Reality is that they wont get any care.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Minimum 73million morons

Its so high.

In the UK we went into lockdown for 1 month a week ago.... but schools are open. Fuckin dipshits running this place.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So many places are open still. Every business thinks they can pass for essential. Not looking forward to the third lockdown.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not looking forward to being stuck on this island with a bunch of covidiots for the next 10 years. Seriously considering canada or new z

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Canada isn’t any better...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have family in calgary visited quite a few times you have more going for you than the UK in terms of space/outdoors for sure.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s true but we have our own problems...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best decision I ever made was to leave the UK and move to NZ.
