I don't have a bed, or the materials to make one, losing interest. I am the coffee maker, interest lost.

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Fffffffffffffffffuck this! Laundry every fucking day?!

6 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I live next to a Mormon family of 8. They do laundry literally all day every day! Lol

This is rage bait, right?

6 months ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a stay at home wife kinda list from the 50s...lol

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always do all of these things but I make exceptions whenever there is a war going on somewhere in the world.

I stay in hotels a lot for work. Due to the pandemic, they cut back on having room service visiting rooms everyday, and making the beds therein. And they've kept it that way (obviously saves them money). I prefer it. I don't want to be untucking the duvet everyday. And I never make my bed at home. What's the point?

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The logic behind half of this list is absent.

6 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Clearly posted by a rental agency

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Every day: "Do laundry, as needed" So like, not every day then? Should be a weekly thing unless you live in a household that makes so much laundry it actually is a daily task..

6 months ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 2

We do laundry daily. Four people in the house, one works in a warehouse, one works food service, it's winter. (More layers). We typically have 1-2 loads a day.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah, this is pretty clearly a "Housewife taking care of household chores for entire family" style list. You can do laundry basically all week with two kids and two adults worth of laundry to do, and with the extra use everything gets with a full family the frequency boost on some of these makes more sense.

But if you're the average live-alone imgurian this list is silliness.

6 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

I haven't even worn it since I last did the laundry..... but in it goes again!!

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nowhere in this list is “clean dryer lint”, and that’s probably the biggest safety hazard

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's just part of doing laundry unless you're a moron

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

To be fair, i *could* space out my laundry to every other day, but why would i? I'm tired after work! I prefer to just do all 3 loads on Sunday (clothes, towels & throws, bedding), and i do them in between my other weekly house chores. Pretty much, aside from pre-rinsing dishes daily... All my chores are left until Sunday because i have a job M-F and i take Saturdays off to relax.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aw, that's cute: they think I actually have time to clean!

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Are you serious? With my ADHD? You'd be lucky if I do one of those things a week

6 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Yeah I need an ADHD version of this.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And I still need to add mental exhaustion to my ADHD...

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I managed to empty and refill the dishwasher yesterday, AND made food. I take that as a win. Didn't find the energy to get firewood, so it's a bit cold in here, but at least I did two things!

Tried a higher dose of meds, they calmed me down too much, didn't get anything done for months until I realised that this isn't working, back to mild meds that don't work that well anymore, trying to clean up the mess that accumulated during the stronger meds. Ughhh. ADHD is such a pain in my ass

Wash your car every 3-6 months? That's a dirty-ass car soon to have a shot paint job.

6 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Yeah so many of these are super frequent, but that one is far far too infrequent. Especially if you live somewhere that salts the roads.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right? And you know that person never washes the wheel wells, and the engine bay... that car would be awful to service.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Wash less often!
- Wear clothes longer. Clothes will last longer, less pollution through washing.
(Do change your underwear and socks every 2-3 days, please.)
You can wear jeans for a long time without washing, and you should.
- You don't need to wash your bed every week, unless you do more in your bed than sleeping in it. I wash mine every 3 weeks/month and it's fine. Wash on lower temperatures.

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've gone without washing my car for several years. I hate it and it doesn't deserve to be cared for.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm not wearing anything that touches the groin or underarms more than once in a row. Anything else I agree about washing less often.

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And may you enlighten us where this 185-hour day planet could be found?

6 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

No way. It's the list for a full time job. Sounds like a way to justify keeping women at home. Don't fall for that!

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is like a toxic positivity thing from someone who is clearly unhappy and losing grip on reality

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

#1 me: hmmm ok lets see what this has to say starting at the top left of the list... make bed?!?! FUCK YOU! ya lost me!

6 months ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

I actually started making our bed daily and it actually helps kick start my day. It's also much nicer to get into at night without having to fix everything. It takes like two minutes.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Honestly I used to do this but my husband and I sleep with separate blankets and that's just no nice looking way to make that bed that isn't a pain come bedtime

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There’s no reason to “make a bed” outside of aesthetics. I can’t sleep with my feet weighted down by anything. Making the bed is pointless for me.

6 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Meh it does fluff up your stuff. Depending on the materials in your blanket/pillow it will feel nicer.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In fact, there’s reason not to. Making the bed traps stagnant air inside your blankets, and encourages bugs to grow. You should actually leave your bed to air off all day for hygiene.

6 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Strictly speaking, wouldn't it be better to hang your blankets and sheets up somewhere to let them and the mattress air out until night?

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, nope to the timeframe on like 80% of these

6 months ago | Likes 157 Dislikes 2

100%

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wash laundry everyday as needed. So not everyday? Like once a week is good

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends how many kids/dependents/pets you have I think.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wash car every 3-6 months...? I like my car and I don't want the winter road salt rusting the floor out from under me

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's probably been 3 years since I washed my car..

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No kidding... But also I can't remember the last time I washed my car that wasn't through one of those automated things after a snow

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And that’s how we got allergies.

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Could you expand on that ? is it that in the process of overcleaning we weakened ourselves ?

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

BillyPancakes expressed exactly what I was thinking. Cleanliness is one aspect to consider. Our industries and what they do and have done, are another. Thinking about forever chemicals and such but also food production.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have no sources to hand for this, but there is a theory that allergies have skyrocketed, relatively speaking, due to us just leading cleaner lives in general. By exposing children less to natural environments and heavily curating the times they are outside, we've increased their sensitivities later in life. This is just one of a few theories, we don't actually know for sure why allergies are a thing.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Don't dishwashers clean themselves?

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

There’s usually a trap/filter in the dishwasher for food particles beneath the rotating arm that needs to be cleaned periodically

6 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Every once in a while it's good to run it 3mpty on the hottest setting to dislodge and dissolve any buildup, same with washing machines. I tried a dishwasher cleaning pod (like £3 for 2) recently and those brought the insides up like new. So maybe do that once a year?

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh god.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can buy these bottles of dishwasher cleaner. You pop them open (except for a meltable wax seal), toss them in the top rack upside down, and run the dishwasher on the highest setting. Definitely good to do once in a while.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You need to clean the filter.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't say not to? I was just mentioning dishwasher cleaner.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was just making it clear for others who read the thread. :)

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's no reason to make your bed. Just fold the blanket and put it at the foot of the bed. Much easier, bed stays tidy, and you'll still feel better about everything.

6 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Yeah, you're supposedly to let your bed air out for at last 1hr after waking to let the sweat and such to dry off. Every morning i open the curtains and window to air out the room and i don't make the bed until about noon. (I have pets, so i prefer the bed be made daily so they only get their fur on the duvet).

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s much much more hygienic too

Came here to say the same thing.

6 months ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

I do exactly two of these at the rate it says, and yes I own a home.
Laundry as needed (note: folding delay)
Toss expired food

I knew this would be first comment! lol

Coffeemaker? Chimney?? https://imgur.com/KT67Rtq

6 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

And yet, there are places (for example Germany) where a regular (yearly) chimney check & sweep is required by law. Does not matter if not used, as long as the chimney exists.

6 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

And if you do not, no insurance coverage I think

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

WTF even is "sanitize sponges". Every fkn day.

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work full time, who has time for all this? Laundry day is every other weekend, i do some quick vaccuming here and there, and most everything else is "when it needs it"

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yep. Lost me at make bed.

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It's only takes less than a minute to do and the bed takes up over 60% of your room. So when I come home I always feel great seeing my bed made. 🥰

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get from this list that I shower way too often

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Was this a list written by a man to give to his wife in the 1950’s or something?

6 months ago | Likes 306 Dislikes 4

No, today to give to his Trad wife, who he gaslit into believing this is her choice

6 months ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 4

My sister

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The thing about guys who want a stay at home wife is that they never make the salary needed to cover a whole family's expenses. If they want a traditional wife, they need to work like traditionnal husbands.

6 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Your statement isn't incorrect, but the problem is that doing so has become harder and harder over the decades, to the point that any one person working like a traditional husbando used to with a good paying corporate job can only feaseably cover themselves.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Passssssss. Squeegee shower daily? Wipe down all surfaces and sweep daily?

6 months ago | Likes 358 Dislikes 3

Ikr! I am in burnout depression and shower way less frequently than I should when my daughters not with me as I collapse. Cleaning stuff… man, I struggle to even eat and shower.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean sweeping around the kitchen table everyday kind of makes sense if you have kids who are messy, otherwise naw.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah I don't even *use* the shower daily. I *should* but that's another issue.

6 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

Technically, you don’t have to shower every day as it can be bad for your skin. But in reality it can be a bit iffy to skip a day.

6 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The soap is what's bad for your skin, although water that's too hot also doesn't help.

Unless you work in the proverbial coal pits or have a body outdoor issue you don't need to use soap with every shower. Sweat and dust just rinse right off. But like usual the brainwashed soap eaters will downvote this to oblivion...

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The shower thing makes it heaps easier, takes like 30 seconds. If you're leaving it for months it's almost impossible to get clean again. Same with the kitchen, 5 minutes a day makes it a lot easier. I have a chronic illness, disability and am lazy, and this is what I've learnt by my mid 40s

6 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I used to squeegee the glass walls of my shower, every shower. They would still get soap scummy. Recently I switched to using a small towel. The glass has looked great for months! Gotta wash the towel though.

6 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

I'll give this a try. I've been using a squeegee, and every month or so doing a quick scrub with a brush and some soft scrub. Really gets them clean quickly, but I'm open to cutting out extra steps.

6 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I use ethanol based cleaning/desinfectant spray on mirrors. Cleans fast and dries fast after wiping without marks or stripes. I'd wager it would work on shower glass walls aswell

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But… why?

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Where I live has very hard water (full of lime) so after 1 shower the glass walls look like they haven't been cleaned in months. Definitely trying the towel trick because squeegeeing takes ages.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

why what? Why do you clean anything

6 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I have hard water that leaves nasty water spots that are difficult to clean once it builds up (and it builds up FAST). A squeegee solves that problem and is quick and easy... Leading to less cleaning time for me later.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes, and what I said is that I've found a towel does a better job than the squeegee. And it's not even close. It's way better

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

saves time in the long run. Prevents mold, and the couple minutes after each shower saves, what, half an hour a week?

6 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Yeah I spent maybe 5 minutes every 3 months cleaning my shower, clean it first sign of dirt on the bottom, well before mold. Do not see how this would save time. I live in a very wet climate

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I have absolutely not spent 26 hours a year dealing with mold in the shower. I'd go with maybe 2 hours every 5-10 years digging out the sealant and applying new stuff.

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The 30 minutes a week is general cleaning. You're not gonna save all of it, but squeegeeing right after shower cuts it down a lot. And then mold growth is dependent on climate, plumbing and construction, and ventilation.
