I just saw this on bored panda and I'm still trying to digest it. What the hell America? A girl was charged 40$ because she started crying at the doctor's office.

It's the abbreviated code for an assessment of her emotional state

1. Look over there. Good. 3. Where does it hurt? Ok. 5. How are you feeling? Interesting. 6. Last time you said you were 23. Is that right?

Briefly talking to someone costs more than drawing blood... Damn your healthcare system is fucked up!

You are surprised by this?

That's a fucking steal! A real therapist would have charged you at least $120. More likely $200+ and wouldn't take insurance.

Insurance and pharmaceutical companies are scamming the fuck out of us, and nobody in our govt will do a damn thing.

They are doing plenty…to block any regulation of big pharma and insurance. Pitchforks are the only solution now.

If that picture isn’t proof right there I don’t know what else you want. Fuckin A Man. =[

I mean, this is how they charge your insurance. The question is how much did she actually pay. When they charge the patient directly it /1

reads very differently. Especially if you sit down with them and say, "I'm paying for this myself."

It's an emotional assessment by a professional

It's not, it wasnt... and this was on here a month ago

I haven't seen it, sorry. But I just saw on the comments someone saying it was charged skin on skin contact after her grandchild's birth. >>

I mean, if that's not getting worse... In my opinion it's insane!

The more egregious charge is the 350$ for estimating what their age was on their last visit. 18-39 is a pretty lazy guess too.

That’s surely not a medical assessment. 18-39 is a rough drunken guess at a dark and dingy after-party.
