My only issue with this is I’m left wondering - what is the common denominator for autism? If it can manifest in so many different ways...
then why are all of those different ways considered the same thing, “autism”? (Btw, not trying to argue, just to better my understanding)

Fair question. Psychology is still trying to piece together a lot of diagnoses, including autism. Right now many are vague & subjective.
Basically right now they say if A) repetitive behavior, B) impaired social interaction, and C) impaired communication, then spectrum.
