About 2 months ago, I was laid off. It caught me off guard since I was living my performance review and was working to be the best I can. In mid March, I was let go. Every day since, I’ve been applying for new jobs day in and day out. Interviewed via zoom, msft teams, Webex, and a handful of in person interviews. Local, remote, and within 2 hour drive for other places. After hundreds of applications, and at least 60 interviews, 50 phone calls, and countless rejects, I received the call I have been long searching for. The extension of an offer. This position is an hour and a half away, and I interviewed via zoom call in front of a panel and they loved me before I even started the interview, and when I did the interview, it only solidified my candidacy, only to have my references verify everything my resume and interview lived upto. Long story short, in am finally employed again.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@op, What field are you in that you have to apply that many times?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

IT, software dev., Microsoft tools (visual studio, c#, vb, .net, and Msft sql.)It became a numbers game of apply daily for 10-16hrs 1/

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I spent all day, all night applying to as many places, not stopping till I got the job.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am one persistent s.o.b.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You damm sure are! Is it worth the pay to apply that many?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is. I love to code and the pay is good. It’s the passion I had for 20+ years since I found it in high school

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats! You relocating or working remote? That is a heck of a commute if you have to do it every day, once a week or so could be OK

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I will commute will find details later if daily or if I can hybrid it

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a 50+ mile drive each way for 2 years, it was exhausting. My hubs commute was bad but he took the train.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh the poor car 100+ miles a day….it got put out of its misery by being rear ended on the freeway.
