Reminds me of the: Jose Somethin'Orother couldn't find a job. But "John" Somethin'Orother found one no problem. Or would that be No Problemo (r/sarcasm)?

They were put in place for this but that doesnt mean that companies dont hire incompetent people to meet diversity quotas, they have reason to think that its a stupid system. Sure we should be diverse but the problem arises when its a quota to fill, just like how police are looked down upon when they incarcerate minor offenders to meet quotas. Its a nice idea but will always be abused when there are strict numbers to meet.

Someone send this to trump along with the definition of tariff.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Actually, I found that the real problem with DEI is that it often butts heads with Title VII. There are employers out there who want to promote and hire minority candidates who may not be the best qualified on paper. They generally want to do it to encourage diversity. The problem is, if you hire or promote someone because of their race, it violates Title VII. Even if they are a minority. Even if your intentions are good.

Help me! I'm an oppressed white man! You have to discriminate against people not like me so I feel better. Be careful not to hurt my feelings!

Back a few decades, Birmingham AL got sued because they weren't promoting black firefighters. The court agreed, and the city put a court approved program into place to adjust the imbalance. 20 years later the white firefighters sued because the system was tilted against them (they won), and the city had to tilt the system back the other way. Somehow it never seems to work out the way people intend it to.

"I love the uneducated"- The nepo baby in chief

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

If only this was always the case. Then decisions about DEI would be easier.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 36

The black guy who hegseth (a fox news anchor) replaced did not have enough chest to display all of his awards and medals.

5 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

You sound like an unskilled uneducated white person. Cry harder snowflake.

5 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Exactly!!

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Not true! Highly qualified candidates who weren't white guys were always in high demand. Why? Short supply. There are fewer than 20 black female STEM PHDs a year, for instance. Nobody is suppressing the unicorn of a smart qualified non white non dude candidate. There just aren't enough. That's true for blue collar cops and firemen as well as white collar coders and doctors. Not cool, but not a conspiracy

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to MAGAts there are no more highly qualified minorities

Trump ordered the return of blatant racism. Big companies with white CEO's are obliging.

I’ll upvote Calvin & Hobbes since it’s basically Baby’s First Philosophy Book, but not when they spout whatever the current political commentary happens to be.

I mean DEI also helps make sure these companies don't get the fuck sued out of them. Don't think formone second they are doing it for benevolent reasons. It covers their ass from discrimination claims. They all seem to have forgotten that in the rush to kiss the orange man's ass.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They used to claim it was affirmative action that took away their jobs. It seems like it is always white men complaining that no one will hire them. They have the lowest unemployment rate compared to other races

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

And every Trump appointment is absolutely unqualified for their position

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Put in place to certainly, but as with anything it can eventually be corrupted and abused. Change is continuous, it has to be to fix the holes.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's a pretty sweeping statement for DEI as a whole. It's not without it's problems and nonsense. Disclaimer, I hate MAGA.

5 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

Indeed. In fact, a large part of DEI has nothing to do with hiring at all.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The problems are when companies don't understand it and use it to shoehorn in anyone who fits a slot in their chart.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Or care to understand. In some cases it's hard to blame them. Someone comes along and says you MUST comply, like it or not, and the natural response to to do the bare minimum to meet that demand. No surprise it doesn't always go well. Perhaps a better route would be carrots rather than sticks, but brute force always seems to be humanity's preferred solution.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gosh. I hate when people use Calvin and Hobbs for their political bullshit. Bill Watterson had lots of social commentary, but it was clever and well written. Am I supposed to receive this better cause the point is presented by characters I’m familiar with?

I remember when you couldn’t get CH to the front page on Imgur because we respected that Bill didn’t want his characters on the Internet. Now, you can post his characters with some bullshit message and BAM, right to the front page it goes.

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

None of that is true, he doesn't want them COMMERCIALIZED. You just made the rest of that shit up.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And that's what they have a problem with.

They want the free pass they are accusing others of getting.

5 months ago | Likes 302 Dislikes 14

5 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

They don't realize they have privileges. Just like with gay marriage, some people see it as "losing" a privilege if others can do the same thing now, despite their lives being the same as before!

5 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

Some of them, as a direct product of the extensively underfunded education system, are genuinely convinced that the DEI initiatives are just favoring minorities - but that's because they're actually too ignorant to do more than believe what the news tells them, verbatin.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Seventy million lead poisoned regressives saw the Nazi candidate the Nazis and Klansmen and nationalists and idol-worshipers were rallying around, saw the swastikas and the banners and the hate speech and the goose-stepping jackboots and figured that they'd benefit from his election, and so they voted for him.

That's not "some". That's half the voting population. The US is a fascist state, a single-party oligarchy in all but name. It has been for a long time.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I... literally said that some of the people who voted for him likely did so because they actually believe the rhetoric, because they're too ignorant to know better. I didn't say that everyone who voted for him is. That's an entire other point that you've made up and slapped over my point. This election was, in part, the result of the GOPs decades long attack on the quality of education in this country - dumb, gullible voters who they can tell any lie to and get away with it.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Republicans are patient, and that's what the Democrats keep forgetting. The GOP don't care if they don't get their way immediately, because they'll keep working at it again and again, step by step, tiny victory by tiny victory until they finally get to the point where - much like they just did - they can seize power entirely, because they were afforded far too many 'deals' in their favour on the way.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My issue with your position is that it relies on extending the benefit of doubt to the regressive fuckers that pretend to be idiots for the purpose of disrupting discourse, because they know their actual arguments can't survive in the light of day.

They want you to think they're stupid. Their displays of stupidity, their inconsistency, and their blatant disregard for observable reality is a weapon aimed at the very concept of democratic mechanisms.

They're not stupid, they're cruel.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It goes deeper than that. MAGAs want to roll back 60 years of civil rights advances to a more white male dominated time. As a white man, I’m entitled to make that observation.

5 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

As another white man - you're right, and also fuck em. Nobody has any right to be treated better than anyone else, let alone because of facets of biology. Whether they're lashing out to compensate for the struggles in their own life that they haven't realized are actually the fault of the rich cunts signing their pay checks or are just hateful wankers who can only find joy in life by taking it from others - fuck em.

I've been to 46 of 50 states over the last 12 years. Texas and Oklahoma are the only 2 places where I've been called a N**** and had my life threatened, respectively.

Damn, sorry that happened, and sorry it happened there, I have a soft spot in my heart for Texas, I know there are good people there, but the fact that sundown towns are a thing means i know there are enough shitty people there for those to exist

Because of racism.

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

So we need to fight racism by...being racist in favor of minorities?

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Look, it's actually not about discriminating in favor of anyone. DEI is more about removing barriers and broadening the talent pool. When companies build diverse teams, they get better results - we've got solid research backing that up. It's like making sure everyone actually gets a fair shot based on their abilities, not their background (being white).

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How stupid are you? Giving an equal chance is not racism.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Giving priority to one person over another based solely on race, is racism.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

It is. That's why DEI measures strive to end such discrimination.
