I think this is called "Zen drawing." I used to do it all the time with the students I pulled out. I recommend using a ruler.

I feel like no ruler would be more zen for me. Just repeat even if it's not perfect. Kinda like the random dots and lines drawing stuff

Tip 1: try moving your whole arm at the shoulder and elbow rather in one fast motion rather than just your hand or fingers.
