Someone correct me if wrong, but if I remember correctly Twitter bought and shutdown Vine right? If that's the case, maybe all this Twitter/X bs is just revenge for getting rid of Vine. Still don't agree with anything that comes out of Musk.
Literally objectively incorrect. Income inequality is on a steady increase since the middle of last century. Fascism, racism and patriarchy have always been in the DNA of America but since 2016 their intensity has been rising and feels like its reaching towards a frightening peak. The average American had more buying power and hated jews less a decade ago. This is all ignoring climate catastrophe so like yikes. Sure the good old days is often partially youthful naiveté but you know maybe not.
I'll give you income inequality. The rest were still around, and *worse*, but people were happily sticking their heads in the sand about them. People actually started working to address those issues, which is causing a lot of political noise and making a lot of conservatives really angry. All of that noise and polarization is a reaction. Childish footstomping at previously laughably fringe ideas like sustainability and BLM and MeToo becoming mainstream and actually impacting politics.
And yes, the climate itself has gotten worse. But it's been on a steady downward path for decades. At least now we're finally starting to wake up and do something. Even if it's not enough, it's a huge step forward.
Vine was after my time and I don't relate to it. But I can see that its culture was way better than tiktok. You have some nice meaningless rhetoric there.
Ah, I took the comment to be in general, rather than specifically about Vine vs TikTok. Like the comments people will sometimes make about how "you couldn't make Blazing Saddles today". If that's the case, then excuse me while I go wipe the egg off my face.
"Brevity is the soul of wit". The quote comes from Shakespeare, but has been known for far longer, dating back to our earliest philosophers. Now in the day of mass media and global digital distribution, it's more important than ever to have concise delivery of a well-considered composition, as an intentional counter to the ease with which large media works may be produced with modern electronic tools. Wit, intellect, and irony come together to form a comedic episode. In this essay, I will… 1/47

No, it wasn't. We were just younger and less aware of the complex issues of the time. "Simpler times" have never existed, just the naviete of youth.
