JPMorgan Chase has informed US authorities that for over 16 years they had processed more than $1 billion for Jeffrey Epstein.

"JPMorgan was a full service bank for Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking", said Mimi Liu, a lawyer representing the US territory Virgin Islands, on Thursday.

On Aug 3, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said in an interview with CNBC that the litigation surrounding the bank’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein had only impacted its brand equity “a little bit sometimes.”

This is after Liu in March accused him, along with former top bank executive Jes Staley, for facilitating sex trafficking by Jeffrey Epstein.

In April, the territory govt tried to subpoena Google co-founder Larry Page for documents related to their civil lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase. So far without success.

They also issued subpoenas to Page’s fellow Google co-founder Sergey Brin, as well as former Disney executive Michael Ovitz, Hyatt Hotels executive chairman Thomas Pritzker and Mort Zuckerman, the billionaire real estate investor.

As of 2023, JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the United States and the world's largest bank by market capitalization.

Mimi Liu didn't kill herself. Infinite selfishness, narcissism and evil in the hearts of men. I fear for her life.

so publish the payer / payee data for all the transactions, I'd like to know who's paying him and who he's paying... simple

As I understand it, that's what the territory govt has been trying to do. But again, JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the United States and the world's largest bank by market capitalization. And the people they have chosen to subpoena for evidence are two Google co-founders, a Disney executive, a Hyatt Hotels executive chairman and a billionaire real estate investor. That's like one rung below Saudi royalty rich, if that. Those are the people not cooperating with the authorities.

What do they mean by processed? JPMorgan is a massive bank, they probably do business with millions of felons. Typically banks don't freeze assets without court orders. It feels weird to "defend" a bank, but I wouldn't want banks to even have the power to freeze assets like that.

*funnelled

Was "funnelled" not an acceptable explanation for "processed"? JPMorgan Chase made possible transactions of over $1 billion, in all likelihood stemming from Epstein's sex trafficking organisation.

It doesn't clear much up. I don't know. I don't downvote people unless they're trolling or something. As a potential explanation though. Processed and funneled mean about the same thing. Unless JPMorgan knew what the funds were for, which would be weird, I don't want them to have the power to freeze accounts.

The question is to what extent they were accomplices. Their defence is that they didn't know. I find that unlikely. Believing the world's largest bank isn't aware of what kind of operation one of their clients is running with a turnover like that, for 16 years, in the case of an internationally known individual, frequently seen with the most powerful people in the world, is IMHO naive. At 5% of that sum any bank would assign personnel to establish an intimate relationship with their customer.

What kind of intimate relationship are you thinking of? They can't force their way into his private business.
