I got to go to a surprise early screening, which was pretty fun.
No spoilers. It stayed on brand with the other Jurassic Park movies. Decent acting, some funny bits, and lots of action.

There is only one Jurassic Park movie. There are only seven seasons of Game of Thrones. There are only three Indiana Jones movies. Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade. There are only four Batman movies. Batman, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises.

AND let's not forget there are only 18 Bond movies, with "License to Kill" being the last in the "classic era".

"on brand with the other Jurassic Park movies" is an interesting phrase. On brand like 1, bits of Two and bits of World or on brand like the other much worse films? I enjoy them all, but the quality of the brand is pretty varied.

That's fair. Most of them have the same general theme of "we were warned dinos were dangerous but we ignored that and now we're in danger from the dinos" . They didn't do anything super crazy like make a movie about dinos in space or anything like that.

You can't say that the jurassic world films continued the brand. They shifted the focus to much more action-y, have a protagonist doing stunts, weapons and stuff. The first jurassic world was a decent enough action film, but still a far cry from the original trilogy (and even further from the novels)

I remember the leaked original plot for Jurassic World where it opened with an alpine heist and Velociraptors skiing down a mountain. Sad to think what we lost.
