Good evening!

The solstice has passed and the days are again getting longer - or shorter, depending on where you are. An occurrence universally celebrated in our past, as evidenced by numerous places of worship where a beam of sunlight creates a visual spectacle on the solstice only. It's an objective celestial event, unfolding regardless of whether people attach any narrative to it. But as such, the solstices have always been surrounded by myth and tradition. It's a time to celebrate and charge up for coming months. A time of intensity and joy.

A late but heartfelt glad midsommar to you, Imgur!

I realise these past few memes may have been challenging. Please have a soothing golden retriever.

If you've scrolled all the way here, you know what to do.

Cat tax! It has been brought to my attention that adding the customary cat tax to one's post is an act of grace and elegance. I do not own a cat, but lately this lovely lady has been visiting me. Muni is my neighbour's cat and she'll come over now and then to get cuddles and a tiny portion of cream. Once satisfied, she walks upstairs to the balcony and sleeps on these cushions. We've tried out different setups but this is her favourite. Sometimes she'll stay overnight and sleep next to me. The best of sleeps, a rare boon.

The word solstice will always remind me of Avatar: The last Airbender. The ep. Aang goes to the frie Nation temple.

#10 This is an excellent definition of "out of my league."

I find that when one is genuinely oneself, there are no leagues. There either is a connection or there isn't. But yes, this is a Specimen and I salute her.

#15 every time I see this i think "who the fuck wouldn't notice their own number as the sender, and realize it's one number off and know it wasn't meant for them?" Then I remember I'm autistic and maybe recognizable numbers don't jump out at other people like they do for me. But then i think "who the fuck wouldn't notice their own number" idk

It seems to me that they already have a cat. Or rather, that Kitty owns multiple humans.

The current cat would have a friend then

Muni's the queen of the neighbourhood. I share a large garden with two other houses and there's 5-6 cats that regularly pass through here, usually skittish. Muni however parades in. It's a casual stroll, yet with style. Some free roaming cats can be ever so cuddly when hungry and once they've had their fill they're off. Not Muni. I offer her tuna and lactose free cream and she politely gives it a taste. But she's chosen to grace my company for cuddles, not food. A lady with style.

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Muni is the ruler of the neighborhood. Other cats are skittish because they fear the wrath of Muni

#14 guy has to perform superhuman feat to overcome a completely asinine artificial barrier and onlookers have a chuckle at his expense.

3 days ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 5

Also, give those people a break. I chuckle when I’m blown away impressed, like watching that dude just BLAST down the street.

3 days ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

It's not asinine or artificial, the cutoff just happens to be very close to the nearest stop within the area that the presumably cheaper fares are. It's actually considerate of the city to place those stops close, people can walk a couple of blocks instead of being forced to pay extra because they're one stop away from the cheaper zone and that stop is miles from the other.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nope, that's a Melbourne tram, and its in the cbd. Completely free ride, no ticket/pass necessary, so it's very much staged. Evidence? This Melbourne native noticed that they pass the Melbourne acquarium, which means depending on the tram number, it has at least 3 more stops after he gets on before it stops being free. Regardless, that shit is impressive af tho. I could never run that fuckin fast.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope. That vid is completely for views. Thing is, he didn't even NEED to tap his transport card. He's in Melbourne CBDs free tram zone. Our public transport card (the myki) is known for being shit and often doesn't register if you tap it. Also, quite often half the readers on a tram aren't even working, even in an area that you do need to tap.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'll be that guy this time. 1. Why would the bus driver be recording to begin with? 2. Around 10 seconds, it looks like he litters the original ticket 3. He didn't use common courtesy and let everyone off the bus before he scanned his fare because he wanted to emphasize his speed for the video

3 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Looks like this is actually on one of Melbourne's trams rather than a bus, and is within it's free tram zone, so I'm not even sure why he's trying to tap on/off here. If it is just for the sake of the vid, I'm still impressed by the speed!

3 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, the bus driver is on the other side of the blue door, but yeah, it might be staged to point out the dumbass hole in the system.

3 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Or its not the driver that's recording and someone just had their phone out because people always have them in their hands nowadays.

3 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks like they got there before you...

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, some fares are based on zone boundaries, such that riders who travel shorter distances within peak zones pay less.

Dude was one stop outside the zone.

He could instead have STROLLED to the first eligible stop and then boarded, too.

3 days ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

unless he needed to catch THAT train for, like, scheduling reasons.

3 days ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Also, this was staged.

3 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Obviously, those involved planned the skit that they recorded, but the feat of sprinting between stops and the public confusion of doing so were real and entertaining. Basically all entertainment is staged, what is the point of calling this out?

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

And a lot of entertaining things are not staged and BECOME entertainment.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To remind those not in he know that this is not reality. That you shouldn't run through traffic to catch your bus. We have a generation of young people that need to understand the conditions of reality even if you already understand them. Call out everything. Pretty soon everything will be AI. Do we concede to "everything is AI" or do we point it out to better define what IS real? Almost 100% of children believe the internet is honest to them.

3 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Your last sentence is blatant disinformation. Our parents said the same things about TV and Google. Theirs said the same thing about radio and magazines, before that about newspapers, and before that about the printing press. The only ones fooled by new technology are those too stubborn to embrace it.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was in response to people dissecting what this guy was doing and whether it made sense to do so. It made sense because it was staged, no reason to argue about why he needed to do it because he didn't need to do it, it was just performative.

3 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your comment was not in response to anything, which is why it seemed like the typical meaningless call out.
