I wonder why houses over there dont have steeper roofs.

Because they didn’t ask me to design it

At least you're not up there shoveling by hand

I will be next weekend, I have multiple pitches on my roof and it gathers in the corners

It’s all up to standard, but the insulation in my ceiling is so good that it doesn’t allow for the roof to heat up and melt off. My next->

There's gotta be a better way to water the field

I had tickets to the next game that was supposed to be played! Monday Night Football in the dome. Was not to be

We have a snow hoe for the short buildings with no steep pitch and the only reason we...hoe it is so that it doesn't roofalanche on cars.

Just melt it with fire

If you're building new in an area like that spring for 2x10 rafters instead of 2x6

The audio makes me think there is an easier way

Two words, heat trace.

I’m going to give him a pass this time. He’s clearly in or about to experience cardiac arrest.

Well I was trying to film and work the tools at the same time

Try adding more snow.

Soak my snow in snow? My friend there are good ideas and revolutionary ones!

Honey it snowed...go shovel the roof....

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We've got 25 feet of snow so far this season, glad I have a steep roof designed to shed snow

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve got 4 different angles of pitch on my roof

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just had to do the same to our house and it looked just like that! Northern CO here.

Snow is fun but it’s a pain, amiright?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Exactly, fun but def a pain. the icicles are cool too and watching huge amount of snow fall at once is satisfying af

Ooooh that’s my dream

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How tall do you let the snow get before clearing like this?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I let it got a bit too long this time, weather and obligations played into that. Usually I do it before a foot of snow accumulates on top

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah. From a non-snow place now living in a snowy place and never had a metric on when roof raking should be done.

I've seen resistive wire heaters that can be installed for snow & ice removal from roofs. I don't know how well they work against that much

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well it’s a tin roof so it’s worth looking into

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably do all right as long as they were on at the beginning

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I expect they'd work, the question is if the power bill would be worth it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I guess it would depend on the power + installation cost vs hassle of doing it by hand.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m sure I could set it up so it’s plugged into a generator instead of the house. That would allow me to run it for about $20 in gas

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it pitched incorrectly for that climate?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Asking the uncomfortable questions..

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it's an annual problem their roof may collapse from snow. Then Imma hazard a guess and say no.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you mean yes? Or it's intentional that they risk roof collapse every year?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The pitch isn’t my problem, my “problem” is that my ceiling insulation is so good that it doesn’t melt off the snow.

You prefer a solution that costs you money constantly rather than once during construction?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bought the house from a 3rd party, didn’t build it
