Ironic that they are the victims of cost cutting and regulation skirting in the interest of profits.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Still tragic though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That submersible was so shoddily made and they cut corners every single place they could cut corners. There is no way they are still alive after three days, I fear they died on day one when it first went missing. All the estimations of air supply and pressure resistance were based on information I bet was similarly faulty.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

They apparently found a debris field, so that thing probably structurally failed and they were gone instantly.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I guess when they lost contact, that *was* the implosion.

Billionaires, sure. But people are dead and you are making fun of it. Shame on you!

#47 I was expecting this to be a missing sub meme.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

tell me this isn't real?!?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I mean assisted suicide is real and nitrous oxide chambers would be a very painless way to go. Not sure about pure nitrogen but its probably similar.

I was not prepared for the final image of a smiling lady waving in a suicide booth. Made me sad. Made me miss my grandmother even more. She looks so HAPPY. Bloody hell...

Is that from Willow?

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Wow. You guys are solid cold. It's a horrible story. I hope they met a swift and painless end.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 7

I think it was, now that they see the sub exterior in the debris field. Thank goodness.

If nautical nightmares be something you wish... BILLIONAIRE TOURISTS! ... Curl up in a ball and cry like a bitch!!

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Just imagine slowly suffocating to death crammed into a tiny space with 5 other rich assholes

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If the sub imploded which is the report they would have died nearly painlessly and instantly

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That and the moment they knew death was imminent. Terrifying.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#10 I do not understand

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Think it's just highs and lows someone goes through. That, or acting like you're fine when you're not.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#22 Comrades, it's been an honor.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've got money riding on the sub grazing the bow of the titanic and sinking.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry about your money.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey man the ship didn't sink until it was MILES from the ice so I've still got some hope the balloon didn't pop till it drifted a bit.

The controller memes I don't get. They're cheap, dependable, compatible, easy to replace so you can have a backup. The controller is designed well as it's a design that has been improved upon for several years. A lot of things use it like military equipment etc. And people are used to them.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It SOUNDS ridiculous, so people are poking fun, it's this new thang called humor

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe, just maybe.. a wired version would have been more prudent when you are at the bottom of the ocean and something malfunctions. Or something waterproof. Or something that would survive being knocked around hard. Maybe combine all and just get a real industrial controller. And any sort of backup.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

don't need to waterproof it. If you got a leak you're dead.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't have to get a leak for it to need waterproofing.. Plenty of condensation to go around when several people are sealed in a chilled container. "Oh look, the dehumidifier broke, I sure hope the controller doesn't die.."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also they had a wireless one?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, if there is going to be a scandal over ocean gate, will it be called ocean gate gate?

2 years ago | Likes 485 Dislikes 7

Ocean Gate Square, or OGS as we're going to call it later

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If only Matt Gaetz were somehow responsible for all this

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, probably not, in the same way that Watergate was not a scandal about water, and how my proposed name for the events on and around Jan 6, 2021, "The Chicken Coup", didn't catch on.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I have taken to calling the online reaction submamemes

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

There is a scandal. Something about fiberglass, a window & a fired whistleblower.

2 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 2

Why shouldn't I bring it up? Tension is fun. You see that reply from @Pasquinel? The thing is he blocked me so I can't reply to him. I don't remember why. I'm sure I deserved it - all the stupid, snarky jokes I make. Chances are I was high. Anyway the point is I want us to get along. I try to make people laugh, but I want to be friends with all imgurians - well most imgurians. I love @Pasquinel's comments & would love to reply to some of them. Forgive me, @pasquinel forgive me! Heh sorry @OP

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

I'm not the OP, but since you're commenting under my comment... I'll allow and upvote this. Hope you can reconcile

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm trying to make a window joke but I can't work under pressure

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

The window thing was something brought up over the previous model of sub they made. It's not to say this one has the same issu.or not, just that given the CEOs previous comments on safety (and how inconvenient the regulations for it are), it's likely the case. Supposedly the lost sub was never tested/certified by anyone but the company itself, so take that as you will.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Hehe *carbon fiber. Imagine a fiberglass submarine. "Yeah scrapes & bruises, but they were only 30 feet down when the thing imploded, so they just swam back up."

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 2

Apparently it would go down to 30 feet and come back up anyway. Like 4 out of 5 dives works be cancelled shortly after launch.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

"Well we could use reinforced ultra lightweight components, or to save a buck we could re-use the hull from my cousin Larry's boat." "Eh, go with the boat hull"

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

You can call me a horrible person but I'm loving the memes about billionaires dying.

2 years ago | Likes 291 Dislikes 24

Gotta love memes about someone dying I guess! Might as well be billionaires

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

We're all at that point. Apathy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Going to hell anyway. Might as well laugh on the way

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's dark humor but it's humor. If you think about them personally as human beings it really is just an absolutely terrible way to die and I wouldn't wish on anyone. But billionaires have caused enough suffering there's a certain amount of sadistic joy and seeing the suffering affect them as a group for once.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Appears we’ve all sunken quite low.

2 years ago | Likes 242 Dislikes 7

Good pun, you should have deserve a raise, maybe not a much as the sub but you still deserve one.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's a good joke

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Humans have hit bottom.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But they just leave me breathless

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I hope these memes die off soon, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Oh you!

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

Hey, at least we are choking on laughter.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

sonuva

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

There's quite a flood of these memes now.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One of the guys wasn't a billionaire he was just a dude who loved Titanic and knew how to pilot a submersible

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I feel for him then but not the rich. He really should have walked though when the CEO ran all the people talking about safety away.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He was also very sick and basically said "if something goes wrong, at least it'll be a quick death"

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

And considering they found a debris field...well he wouldn't have been wrong.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Woah wait......what if this guy also hated billionaires......lol

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You're a horrible person. It's hilarious though.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 8

I dunno. When awful people died in history usually people celebrated.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Other than being wealthy, were they awful ppl?

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Right? We literally know nothing about them except for the fact that they have money.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I mean, a shit load of money.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

There is no ethical way to become a billionaire

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

There are very few examples of those gaining great wealth and being good people. The act of getting it requires you walk on others without empathy. That you hoard away something from the world hurting it. Then without remorse say you earned it. Billionaires spend loads of cash to sell you the lie they earned it or are good people. None of them are.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

So what I'm hearing is "it's probably safe to assume they're bad."

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Too bad US tax payers are footing the bill for rescue efforts after the CEO is on record saying 'safety is waste'. The only hope is that goes through his head, but utterly, he never has to answer to the public for his actions.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

FWIW if they weren't hunting for the sub, they'd probably just be doing readiness drills or other shit, so the marginal cost for this probably isn't too crazy

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean it's also taxpayer's money used to pay firefighters. They also clean up a lot of messes made by idiots

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doesn't mean we oughtn't aspire to less idiots and less billionaires

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah but fires can spread and ruin people's homes. These people had enough money to blow $250k for a few hours of entertainment.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah that's true... What about people that need help because they got stuck somewhere? Like up in a tree or sommeth. (or the washing machine. No wait that's not firefigthers)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does the tree cost $250k to climb up, and do you sign a waiver that mentions death 3 times on the 1st page?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Taking the sub ride was considerably more risky than lots of other actions that might result in search and rescue, and these people have estates who can easily pay for it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They dead now, only one I feel bad about is the kid, who appears to have been forced by his dad

2 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 4

He was forced? You have any source for that?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Heard that his dad's lawyer was meant to go but he didn't, anddad didn't want to waste the ticket, more heavily encouraged rather than forced, but still, not entirely his choice to go down

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So no source?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I just learned about him. Makes the whole thing less harmless, imho.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would feel more bad for the young adult (19>18, so not a kid), if intergenerational wealth transfer wasn't a thing. 🤷‍♂️

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 11

Then again, he seems to be the only one who didn't really want to go

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I hope timo chala plays him in the up coming true crime series

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Fair enough..

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If he's anything like Brian "audioguy182" then it's probably for the best

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0
