You guys remember that game largely features rape and dismemberment for funsies right? A core gameplay feature is that your characters can be raped.

Thats honestly whats keeping me from playing the first one. Although it is overused to where it becomes kind of dumb way of getting a shock factor. I heard he really toned it down on the sequel though so i might check that out as long as saving isnt also a way to die by coin toss

I almost didn’t remember without the obligatory wrench-yeeting.

This is very niche game character to cosplay. Very few people know the game. You played it yourself or just cosplaying? It is very weird and difficult game

It gained some popularity recently as some bigger streamers found it(or them). I saw it first when CDawg played it and then some vtubers as well.

I heard about it from Super Eyepatch Wolf. I like some of his videos about games cause he's good at teasing out themes to dissect and makes the experience of playing a game like this sound really interesting. It's a good kind of video for someone like me cause I like weird, niche media and stories, but I know this is a game I would absolutely not enjoy playing due to the nature of the gameplay.

I hate how youtubers seized the market and can decide what games succeed and fail, crazy time to be in software. When I was a kid I never would have imagined it. We offered copies of past games to youtubers and they would flat out say "I'll play your game for 10k cash. I'll give it a good review for 20k." Crazy stuff. I'm retired from it all now luckily, as it's unraveling.

You sound like someone who may remember the days of Bill Roper at Blozzard, lol.

youtubers havent siezed the market. My take on it is, if your game doesn't hold up to a simple showcased playtest (any video or stream), then you made a shitty game and that's that. Without the content creators, lots of people would buy the shitty game before realizing it was shitty. Gameplay videos are consumer friendly

Well.... I'm gonna be honest, I would not have heard of this game if it wasn't for youtubers playing this game, but it's from a small youtube channel I follow, so I don't know if that lady was getting paid to play the game, and frankly speaking, if she was paid, thanks? Because I do not regret having this game.

I mean, if a game's good it's good :P

also, content creators who give disingenuous reviews typically don't make it very long or very far

I think it's better than what it was when I was a kid and you only had the game box to judge which game to get. Couldn't really even afford the gaming magazines, but even those generally just favored the big titles so it literally hasn't changed much, just who is getting paid has.

I mean, you're not wrong. I remember magazines being the only way we could learn about anything back then.
