I thought the big thing was the player's head at first, and thought "You eject your head to swing!?" Some Dynamite Heady vibes going.

I feel like to get up and over something the grapple would have to be actively pulling the character and should get shorter as it goes.

It's sort of a combination between gravity-like acceleration and rope swinging, so it does pull you up as well as swing. Elastic-ish.

Or use that double jump animation to add kinetic energy during the swing.
