Gangnam Style by Psy.

Thank you :)

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well that woke up my PTSD from time working on elevators - That's the kind of thing I used to have nightmares about. Not a common thing in countries with good safety standards.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My stupid ass would panic and try to go forward. I'd be legless

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And during a fire? You'd go toward? Lol

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nuh thats different, obvious pain would be forward.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's like watching a mechanic monster eating its prey.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why regulations and inspections are important

8 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

And not look at your phone while moving.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and bribes

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What happens when you decide to cut costs and fire the elevator mechanic.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Say what you will about tge US but our elevators are regulated.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now. That is not a sure thing in the future.

I haven't seen this movie since it's release and didn't realize the bad dub until Red Letter Media talked about it.

Good old Russian engineering

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It happens in America too. A lady attending my college was cut in half this same way.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in UK and I've never seen a Lift (Elevator) that operates in this way

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because Russia and the US are two sides of the same "no health & safety" coin.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

https://x.com/TopDogLaw/status/1615023577237159936 the numner on the wall starts with 8 which is the Russian international dialing code.

Nice of the lift to wait for him to get off.

8 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the EXPRESS elevator

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

that's terrifying on many levels!

8 months ago | Likes 724 Dislikes 5

A rare comment that has more updoots than the post! Nice!

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you pun of a bitch

8 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I would counter that it’s only terrifying on level 1. After that, it’s regular-fying.

8 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

It definitely isn't uplifting.

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Usually the blood gets off at the second floor

Certainly raises a lot of questions.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get off the fucking phone. Holy shit.

8 months ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 41

ok boomer

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

I'm not thinking him being on the phone was the problem here.

8 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Why is walking through an elevator on your phone wrong in any way whatsoever?

8 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

1) Generates a Murphy field increasing the probability of dropping the phone down the gap, 2) slows your reaction time in case something goes wrong, and worst of all 3) it might inconvenience other people that you almost walk into.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean yes, but how about the lack of safety features on the elevator. That's my take away from this one

8 months ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 2

Sure, but in this case the elevator is overwhelmingly the one at fault.

8 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Sure but that elevator is 98% of the blame here. Good lord.

8 months ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

But life is full of stuff that doesn’t always function properly. Yeah, the elevator is supposed to not do that, but you also still have to watch where you’re going and shit.

8 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

What is the chance? Do you wear a steel helmet to protect against meteorites?

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There's a big difference between "stuff doesn't always function properly" and "the elevator started descending with the door still open." I'd assign no blame to phone guy, I think it is reasonable to expect the elevator in most places to not fail in such a basic way.

8 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Cool cool cool, y’all keep not paying attention to your surroundings, then. Darwin awards will be issued accordingly.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm not saying it's always the best idea to be on your phone, but seriously, he had every reason to expect safety there and when shit *did* go wrong he reacted correctly.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This dumbass livin life like it's Final Destination

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Shouldn't the elevator check the door is closed before moving?? Wtf?

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Likely a mechanical failure

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Hey, most elevator safety features work at least 9 times out of 10!

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also typical Russian engineering.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh man this was almost on liveleak. What happened to the elevator brakes?

8 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Breakd

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They broke

8 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Elevator is going up, actually. older elevators have relatively no safeguards against this. I've been in two that have slammed against the top. very annoying.

8 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I have seen this vid a dozen times and NEVER realized the elevator is the part closest to us! Magic...

If he got seriously hurt, insurance is gonna deny any claims.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maintenance is key.

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Maintenance, safety inspections, and safety regulations.

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not sure what the guy in the pink shirt is trying to achieve - hold up the elevator? Pull him out through the tiny crack?

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 months ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

All but his feet are in and that starts happening and you decide to try and back out instead of just nudging him in?

8 months ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 3

Panic brain, it ain't always gonna make the right decision. You can see this when some people taste ice cream. They might blow on it, because brain goes 'VERY TEMPERATURE, FIX', just like how this guy saw an answer to the imminent problem. Wasn't the -right- answer, but an answer.

8 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

That's fair. Thank you for making me reassess. I usually do well in panic mode so probably don't have a reasonable expectation of other people's responses.

8 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Good thing in America we have safety regulations!

8 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

For now

8 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

for just about another month

8 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Isn't Carnival Cruise Lines US? Just sayin' they had one of the nastiest elevator accidents I've seen. Don't look that shit up...

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Regulations don't stop every accident but they enforce penalties when they are followed. Are they perfect? No. Would I rather have them than not? Yes.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh for sure, just... it's not foolproof and the US is also not, uh, great for big corps going "hmm what's gonna cost more, a lawsuit or actually fixing shit"

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed but I would say it's better here then say hati where the lack of building regulations made it to where none of the buildings had to be typhoon proof. I know people are going to slip through cracks and corporations are going to lobby against punishment but I still think we should be pushing for more building codes.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That would be an unfortunate way to almost get died.

8 months ago | Likes 176 Dislikes 4

Ever been an onion in a slap chop?

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That most certainly would have been died

8 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

He did almost get died. It would be unfortunate to get died that way. ... Hold on, is this a movie reference?

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like how the Final Destination series managed to cover almost every one of my paranoid fears. This was one of the deaths, IIRC. I think it was the second movie, the one with the famous log scene.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Imagine walking into an elevator to find a severed torso lying there..

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Be unfortunate for the guy who just entered the elevator as well. Imagine the trauma of living with that.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A few years back this happened on an elevator in Houston in the Texas Medical center and it took the head right off a Resident Physician in front of several people.

https://www.chron.com/news/article/autopsy-of-doctor-killed-in-elevator-accident-2131468.php

8 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Holy fuck, that's fucking brutal.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

iirc there was another person in the elevator and they had to sit there with the top half of the guy’s head until they could be rescued.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

weird that the article focused on the doctor possibly being drunk as if that explains why an elevator decapitated him

8 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Hospital's legal team needed it, so they got it.

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm above that right now, guaranteed, and don't feel like I should die.

8 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Apparently that's the next morning. I'm genetically immune to hangovers so no idea what the fuss is about.
