These things have been in my family longer than I have. Dollar store toothpaste and an old toothbrush, with some free time on my hands.

Before you go spracking off about how they're worthless now, I am well aware of that. They were gifted to a family member shortly after because "they'd look great on my fireplace."

Anything valued by someone is not worthless
lEetfuk
my friend wants to know why they are worthless now?
MrStealYourGiF
Because copper scrap is $3 a pound and they scrubbed away a five thousandth of it.
SpazTik1
They're 100+ years old, once you clean off the "history," the value goes way down.
lEetfuk
ah. worthless. not useless
miertam
give them a quick spray of matte clearcoat if you want to keep them shiny while they are on display.
SpazTik1
Ah good call!
riddmkidd
Waaaait a minute...matte clear coat shiny?
miertam
They are already shiny the clearcoat just protects them, you can use gloss CC but that often looks like you dipped things in plastic.
riddmkidd
Cool, thanks for the explanation!
