Since Google maps has decided to cave to this BS, let's look at some alternatives

Organic Maps (https://organicmaps.app/), is a cool, if limited app for navigation, in my experience car/walking/bicycle navigation works very well, but is limited in other areas

OSMand(https://osmand.net/) is an awesome android app that implements the Open Street Map project, the UI can be a little complex, and it can run sluggishly on older devices.
It suffers from a lack of functionality with public transit though, which is an unfortunate problem with all FOSS navigation apps that I've tried
Open source software like this will rarely be as nice of an experience, but in my opinion freedom is worth a cludgy UI and a few missing features.

What the fuck? The name just changed before my eyes when I scrolled down to the Gulf. It said Mexico for a split second, then changed to America!

That's very insulting to the pigs

Apple maps is still correct for now at least
wolfenstien98
True, but this post was mostly an excuse to shill for open source software.

Nice part of both Organic Maps and OSMAnd+ is if some place is missing, you just add it. Then it's available to everyone. Like Wikipedia.
Public transport is rather new (months old) for both apps; in Japan it works well for trains but not yet for buses.

Yeah, community driven software is awesome

I daily drive Organic Maps as it's user friendly. OsmAnd+ is more powerful and can update its maps every 15min; so used for that.

Yeah, that's my normal workflow as well.
