I feel like this is missing a vital second part, where after many iterations they fixed and improved it... And then the Users absolutely shit on and tear apart both it and the Devs.
... Because that's also a big part of the experience.
This is so so sooooo fucking true. I had a complete twat-waffle in one of my programming classes while in the Air Force, and he was so gung ho about his ability to "break anyone's code" in our intro to Visual Basic class. During a basic calculator app he thought he was top dog for typing letters. My response to his attitude was to go to the text entry functions and lock out everything not needed for a calculator. When he couldn't pull his shitanigans he accused me of cheating. :-D So vindicating
QA team: “Just make the square hole smaller! That’s it!” Dev Team: “No! Users are dumb, they need to do it how I say!” Sales: “It’s a feature, don’t sweat it” User: “Why did they put all these fucking holes here?”
Sometimes the best people in a software company are the sales teams that convince corporations to take on their badly coded steaming pos, I've seen so many dead on arrival implementations over the years (2 of them SAP).

As a former QA: accurate.

It's not QA's fault the devs made an exploit.

Are any SAP implementations not DOA?
Baggsy13
It's usually the reverse.

Let me guess...you're a dev.

Make something idiot proof and they will build a better idiot. I have been on both sides of this.

No that’s a user
BishlamekGurpgork
Well, I certainly wasn't trying to say a dev would be this stupid about using a product they designed.
Baggsy13
No, the user cuts the bottom off of the pail to put the pieces in, and then calls support because it can no longer be carried.
