Good Government in a market economy is a balancing act where immutable facts such as that 1-2% of any population will always be rich (they can’t help it) and 15% will be always poor (neither can they) and the level of taxation deployed should take from the rich and give to the poor whilst ensuring the rich don’t leave and take their wealth with them because they feel overtaxed and the poor are not so well compensated by the state that they never break free, this is controversial of course.
Government should nationalize corporations. Corporations have proven time and again that they cannot be trusted to do what they do responsibly, so we need to take their toys away forever.
Government is not a thing, it's a practice. It requires politicians and voters. When the voters are lurkers, they have to consume the government they're given.
You aren't wrong, but I'd think it's fair to say that at this point it's not squarely on the shoulders of voters when there are also practices like gerrymandering and corporate lobbying. Just a wee bit of corruption at play too.
A lot. And you're right there's a lot of entrenched corruption. A lot of that thrives because people look the other way or just accept the way things are by not showing up. It's the old bit about the only thing required for the triumph of evil is for good to do nothing.
To be clear how old this idea is, THOMAS (FUCKING) JEFFERSON said the same thing. That was in the late 1700's. This was one of his fundamental ideas of governing and the formation of government.
Well, since the SC said that corporations are people, then tax those fuckers, take away their benefits, spend their money on stuff you want, ignore them and do nothing to help them.
Regulation should be proportional to the size of the entity: the bigger, the more regulated; the smaller, the more free. You know, like the Founding Fathers intended....
One of governments primary responsibilities is the redistribution of wrath. It is supposed to act like any other physics involving high and low concentrations/pressures. High concentration gets dissolved into lower concentrations, balancing the entire system. When the system doesn't work right, really bad things happen.
Overly simplistic to the point is meaninglessness. I'm 100% okay with governments saying that people must wear seatbelts, or that corporations can bring their products to market without being attacked by highwaymen.
I was thinking recently the ironic thing is that if the government did act like a business, it would buy up other businesses, and we'd have publicly-owned property.
It’s because sadly all the so called politicians are greedy manipulative liars. It’s the same everywhere. You must remember they are not on politics for you, they’re in politics for what they can gain from it. If it means shafting the population they will always do it.
considering the average voter: both is good : ] keep the warning labels on sht, actually, boost prop 65 by letting it tell us wtf is in things and how much above "normal" besides a vague sticker taking u to a useless website
Prop 65 is a joke. It doesn't warn anyone about actual cancer risks. It's a get-out-of-litigation-free card: if a company slaps a prop 65 label on something, now it's on you not to get cancer. All of the car parts I've buying have generic prop 65 warning labels on them - even stamped steel parts.
mmm. strengthen the sht out of cali regulations cause it used to be, Chinese ppl wanted made in USA for quality and safety. Now business is headed to EU cause US enshittification and contaminations/pollutions are just constant and ENCOURAGED by the GOP
Didn't vote for that person. Voted for the other one. Seems rather clear that something foul happened somewhere, but also the Democrats didn't fight back hard enough. They just folded and collapsed like wet toilet paper.
Probably because of a complete lack of evidence for foul play and insane lawyers that will "release the kraken" every two weeks and some pillow selling crackhead that has "secret evidence". Perhaps they aren't as completely insane as the other side?

They shiuld, but they dont, because there are no consequences when they dont.

The government serves those who get them elected. This requires vast amounts of money. Guess who is giving them the money?
OmegaWumpus
Government should protect both, and regulate both.
blaghart
Government should by synonymous with the people and should disband corporations, not be synonymous with corporations and disband the people.
KillingTlme
The police were created to protect corporations from the people.

Presidents, Congressmen/women, Senators, and Supreme Court Justice should not be able to enrich themselves while in office.

Billionaires should be a myth not a frequent occurrence
keillrandor
People should know that the rich and powerful NOT already being the government is actually the anomaly, rather than the reverse. /1
keillrandor
The problem, is that this means it takes FAR MORE EFFORT to maintain, because it's 'not normal'.

My question is why are the boomers running things. Why are so many voters lazy.

In the US, the people are afraid of the government. In France, the government is afraid of the people.

But when he said people he meant "white landowning men". Certainly not black men like his slaves and especially not his sex slave Sally Hemings.

I mean.. if we had LAWS in govt.. and not RULES... along with a functional guillotine we need to post such obvious statements.

It’s tiring but damn people be educated and do something vote on my half most important get educated on the situation that’s destroying us

Services are there to SERVE. Us, the people. At some point they decided they were the masters and we the servants, and we didn't lynch them for it.

And should remember it was owned by us.

Nothing should run like a business really, if we're being honest

Especially a business run by a guy famous for bankrupting most of his businesses.
