Sneaky. You don't need to write an infected app, just make it an ad platform and devs wanting to make a buck will spread it for you.

Bought a cheapo smartwatch a 'bout 2 years ago. After a year, they updated the terms of use and user agreement. The app previously asked for access to location and photo gallery. Now it asked for access to phone calls. Why tf would a fitness app need that, or even access to my photos, lol. Uninstalled it. It automatically reinstalled after a week. Uninstalled it again, and it appears to stay uninstalled for now.

The SpeedTest app also asks for access to phone calls, what networks other people are on, text messages and other stuff. I deleted it immediately as soon as I saw that. A data speed test does NOT need access to that stuff...

Bought a Mi scale, then discovered u needed an app to USE A WEIGH SCALE! Ugh, wanted access to gallery and contacts. Why would it need that? Should have known better

The gallery I can understand if you want to save screenshots of the data. But your contacts is just a red flag
