I started the journey of recovery 4 years ago when I essentially crushed everything from the waist down. A couple weeks back I was able to be emotionally vulnerable and show my progress knowing that some might make fun of the weight I gained being bed bound and non weight beating for 2.5 years. I wasn't supposed to walk again at all, but today I walked my hallway and back again without my leg braces! It was easier this time!

My curvy spine doesn't really allow me to stand upright.

At the time, I shattered my pelvis and L3-5.

Right leg rocking its android equipment.

And my left leg as well, though since that x-ray, they fused my ankle completely on that side and pinned my big toe straight.

These were my original Lieutenant Dan leg braces that allowed me to get up and walk. They were heavy and painful and my progress was plateaued so I decided to start practicing standing without them. Then I started counter side-stepping. Then walking with my walker.

Android toe on my reconstructed left foot. I call it my Temu foot because it's vaguely foot shaped but not quite right.
I show everyone this to remind myself and everyone never to stop. You Are stronger than you think and I love every one of you. I'm proud of you all. Whatever fight you may be fighting. Whatever personal demons. Don't give up because this internet stranger believes in you.

Progress, yay! Subscribed so I can show future support.

That is some fantastic, amazing progress!! Keep going, sending good vibes and love your way!!

Yikes ow. Was just watching an archeology video who was remarking on a pelvic bone they’d found, “this is one of the hardest bones to break”
You are amazing! Keep at it!

What an inspiration you are! Absolutely amazing work. I only had to help my partner through her spinal surgery and thought that was bad... good gravy, you have so much more going on! Like others have said, listen to your body and make sure you don't overwork yourself. You rock.

You're doing amazing! Your 'Temu foot' description had me cackling

You are making progress! That’s a huge accomplishment! Focus on progress, not perfection. Keep up the great work!

"Nope, not gonna turn around." Love it! Not all heroes wear capes, look at you go! Keep up the awesome work @op!

I'm sure you know, but it's worth it. Keep working at it! And you are not alone.
I got chronic fatigue syndrome and slowly deteriorated over 9 years. Could barely get myself to the bathroom by l
The last year. Gained 100 lbs. Also had cortisol/pituitary issues that didn't help and lots of steroids for asthma. I've been back on my feet now for 10.5 months since major neurosurgery. I've lost a lot already and look forward to becoming even stronger.
Bloodyvalentine549
Good job yourself! Amazing work!

Good stuff here. If you don't mind me asking, what happened? It's personal so I understand if you don't want to share.
Bloodyvalentine549
I jumped off a bridge into oncoming traffic because of my past and the fact that I was going to be homeless again a 6th time at 28. And I don't mind sharing my story now in case it can help talk others down

I feel your pain. I also injured my lower spine 5 years ago and have been struggling to recover and loose the 50kg I gained while bed ridden for most of a year.
Bloodyvalentine549
I'm sorry Hun :( Just don't give up
StygionAbyss
You too. Try to take 1 more step every day and celebrate.

Temu foot! 🤣

I'm stealing this for my Mom. A car accident squashed her foot 4 years ago. It's foot shaped but not quite right. She was 74yrs old at the time and recovered amazingly well. Its a long journey but you can rock this! Internet strangers are proud of you!
Bloodyvalentine549
Temu feet unite! But really, thank you

Excuse my French but F anyone who might think of making fun of you. You're a freaking warrior, and I'm in awe of your strength! I'll be following your progress to the tune of These Boots are Made for Walking

Wow! You are amazing! I'm so impressed by your hard work. Congratulations on being able to move around without the braces, you rock! ❤️

Killin it, queen! Proud of you!

Pretty sure I commented on the post where you moved around the living room. You are killing it, my friend. I've been very lucky that all of my broken bones have been easily repaired and I never needed to undergo the amazing recovery that you've done. Keep on keeping on, hero!
Bloodyvalentine549
I think so! I just wanted to give everyone updates as promised

you're beautiful.

I got spinal surgery for scoliosis so I've always called myself a cyborg. You're, like you said, android. Androids are arguably better than cyborgs
Bloodyvalentine549
Half human, half metal :D

Damn, I snooped your profile for the history of your situation - that you're moving at all is damn impressive. Mega kudos :3
Bloodyvalentine549
Thank youuuu! It's been a long, long road

As someone who’s spent the last 3 months fighting debilitating spinal pain, you are honestly a ray of hope for me that I can get my life back.
Bloodyvalentine549
I believe in you entirely 😁

@Bloodyvalentine549 look at you doing that left foot, right foot. just put one foot in front of the other. And soon you'll be walking out the door. IYKYK.

Hey, @OP, the stuff you're doing is ridiculously hard, and a lot of people in your position just can't face it You're making progress and improving, so don't ever think it's not enough.
I may not know you, but I hope it's okay to say that I'm proud that you're pushing so hard and making progress.
Bloodyvalentine549
Thank you 😊 that means a lot
BishlamekGurpgork
You're welcome! I have an affirmation buddy that I talk to every day. We both ask what we did that day, even if we know it's a day off. No Shane if nothing was done that day, but we always ask, even if it's to say it was the day off.
It's only for normal workouts for me, but for them it's for rehab. It's super useful knowing you'll have to tell someone if you get lazy, and that someone will remind you that you're making progress each time you follow through.

I needed this
Thanks

Very welcome 🤗 it costs nothing to spread love and light instead of hate and anger

Gym bro reporting in. fuck anyone who discourages you. You are the only one fighting your own battles and you are the only one you compete with. Strength gained is strength earned. Keep going, we're proud of your progress, and we want to see you walk down to the car and back.

Giiiiirl. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing with us. I absolutely believe in you!
