I had told my dad that if Teddy made a return for president, that trump and his cronies would go full on [redacted] and try to kill Teddy
My dad had to seriously think on why I told him that, and wouldn't talk to me for a few days

Teddy R was such a Chad that global capital got out of his way

Highly recommend reading Edmund Morris's biography series on Teddy. "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" is one of the best books I've read.
CGWN
I prefer the sequel, "Theodore Rex." Why they did a movie adaptation with Whoopi Goldberg, I will never know.

If Teddy Roosevelt had won the 1912 Republican nomination and then the Presidential election, WW1 would have been over in 1916 or '17.
Fasrill
Now there's a fascinating "what if" scenario. I wonder what other butterflies would've occurred because of an early US entry into WWI.
No Russian Revolution for one, since the war would have been over in this scenario before Lenin was sent from Germany.

Hey, that's not accurate. Income inequality is worse than it's ever been.

It did change a lot and then decades of propaganda, lobbying and complacency got us back to more or less where it started
It did change. The change was then walked back. All political battles against capital are infinite and must be re-won by each generation.

Things went back to this cause the world got struck with amnesia. "hey, how about we don't regulate economy and put fascists to power?"
Well, technically they did and then corporate lobbies bought their politicians left and right

No, it started to get good. Then they invented Fox 'news'. We gotta outlaw all that TV lying again.

Oh, it changed. But then the USA decided to elect Ronald Reagan, mostly because Carter wore a sweater and wasn't an open racist.
and couldn't get the hostages back before the election.
LaffertyDanie1
Carter was in office for high inflation, energy crisis and Iran hostage crisis. Debatable what's his fault but hard to survive that.
walnutbreath
None of that was his fault. The inflation was from Nixon's breaking Bretton Woods. The energy crisis was a result of the Iranian revolution
(which only happened because Eisenhower and Allen Dulles overthrew a democratically-elected leader with a coup). It was all Republicans'
fault and Dems getting blamed for not fixing their mistakes fast enough. And Carter fixed inflation and then Reagan stole all the credit.
He was dealt a terrible hand it's just hard to survive all that right before an election
The bigger problem was how fast America forgave Nixon and Ford.
