Can someone tell me if this is normal for the inside of this? There's some type of material cover that goes over the connectors and I'm worried it's gonna catch fire. Should it be there or do i remove it? It's the white thing at the bottom of the iron about a cm long.

That's the insulation, it helps to transfer the heat toward the tip. Leave it alone.
