I just was using it 10 mins ago, and I didn’t know chat feature was tied to involvement in a community. I don’t see how that works. I thought it was independent from posts and other stuff on the site and basically private messaging to any and everyone.

But I mean they are not tied to a topic…..I don’t even know why the message says community…IMGUR doesn’t really have groups or communities

If you go down a comment hole it opens up direct messaging, not private messages. It's just a chat feature so posts dont end up where two people talk to each other with 40 replies

Ahh so if you reply to my original post, and I reply to your reply, people won’t get notifications about my reply….basically only get notifications of the parent (original comment commenting on the post)
