I have an alternate take to all these protests over Imgur management sucking; Imgur management has always sucked.
The community is awesome. But its always been run by putzes and moderated by unrestrained monkeys with zero consistency.
CSB:
I initially registered with Imgur as an easy way to host images, went a few years without interacting much with the community or posting things into usersup or even stealing memes. Eventually started checking out the front page regularly, posting in the comment sections, posting stuff into public.
Got badges, amassed a million internet points, and, eventually, a dozen or two perm bans. Bans were all for what I still consider mainly stupid reasons; quickly picked up on how insanely inconsistent moderation standards here were on anything related to "sex." A close up of a woman's butt in a thong bikini would make it to the front page, never got deleted, and random people would be banned for random reasons. People saying they'd love to disappoint her in bed or **** all over a woman would remain up but I'd get a perm ban for just posting the comment "butt." But my bans would always get overturned on appeal, usually with an apology.
Then I got a month ban for posting an image of a British comedian dressed in Borat's slingshot bikini. When I protested the ban, I was told Imgur had a no "thongs in butts" rule. When I asked for where that was in the rules, I was told to just read the rules. I pointed out again that there was no such rule and on top of that, there was a half dozen women's butts in thongs on the front page in the first two page downs. Oddly those posts were never deleted and I was told that due to my breaking the rules w/ my post I would be perm. banned if I ever posted nudity again.
I eventually gave up entirely on commenting on anything related to sex/women/sexy stuff, just got tired with the moderation on those posts. Three years later, there was a front page post of a sci-fi actress wearing a really ugly Christmas sweater (and fully clothed past the sweater). Dozens of comments of a sexual nature on the thread. I posted "that sweater is horrid, she should take it off." Perm ban from posting for "misogyny." When I pointed out all the other sexual comments, my entire account got nuked.
That was maybe... 3-5 years ago. Never made another account, figured if Imgur didn't want me around, **** 'em. Ban evasion is a sin on the internet.
Figured I'd make a new account to post this rant given all the other yelling over Imgur management sucking; its always sucked.
But you guys are great, I still stop by to steal memes. Sorry I haven't been upvoting the images I steal, can't do that without an account.

This makes me sad. Such a prude bunch. Thx for your story mate.

But that's the thing; its just such an INCONSISTENT prudish bunch. I have no problem with stupid rules, as long as they're consistently enforced and implemented.
