As long as your heart beats

I know I tell this story once a year, but in November of 2020, facing homelessness a 6th time and isolated, I decided to jump off of a bridge into oncoming traffic. I'd had a really rough 28 years and felt that I had no hope left. I ended up smashing my legs, feet, hip, pelvis, lower spine, and ribs. Needing multiple surgeries, 5 months in the hospital, years of rehab, I had a LOT of time for self reflection, and I came up with a motto.

As long as your heart beats. As long as your heart beats, there is ALWAYS time for things to improve. To live each moment as it's own. To find simple things to be happy about every day. Find out more about your strange meat puppet that is commanded by a lump of tissue.

My life these days isn't bad comparatively. I am learning to walk again against all expectations, I have love. I'm surrounded by a family that I built myself online. I'm glad that I got a second chance at life.

Keep your chin up. Live through the storm so that you can revel in the rainbow. Surround yourself in people who have been through the same battles, who love you as much as blood. Hold on with everything, because you are beautiful and you are brave, and you are WORTH it, because there's nobody in the world who is completely the same as you. This internet stranger is sending out ALL the love today until you can love yourself.
