It's all practice for political subterfuge

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought "AI" tech was kinda neat at first glance, but after so much exposure and learning how despicable the learning (stealing) process is, I have a physical reaction to AI video and images of mild nausea in addition to the conceptual revulsion. I hate that -this- is what we're using our time, money, and inventiveness to bring into being as a species.

You tube is quickly filling up with straight up ai trash and it keeps trying to shove it down your throat. I'm about one more undkibble fake AI voice actor qr code scam ad away from turn off YouTube for good

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Don't watch YouTube without ad blockers. Shields Up!!

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I kept zooming in on the play buttons!

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I downvote and block any account using AI.

...to shreds you say.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the grim darkness of the internet future, there's only war, between porn bots and crypto bros.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I find it ironic when people refer to video games as mind rotting or pointless, like hating art will somehow make it go away. I went to college for fine art and the degree is worthless, but GTA is much less so

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The internet lost it's mind over 'hawk tuah' which was literally 10 a penny Instagram shorts slop. There were already thousands of vids of women saying the same attention seeking shit.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Do you want to know what the most valuable scientific advancement for future totalitarians would be?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

dead internet theory

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

we are cooked. we need some regulation on this asap.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh good, we can speed to the bottom faster. I’m glad it can replicate the “asking random girl with big tits dumb questions” trend pretty well. Maybe the people who make that content might have to grow an additional brain cell.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

See, my Algorithm must be very well curated, because I never see any of this shit. All the stuff people complain about being on YouTube making the platform worse, I never see a single post of it.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Annnnnnd The Internet is dead.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AI will never replace the canned fish taste test guy. (At least in my opinion) Thank you for the entertainment, Matthew Carlson!

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

scare quotes? when did quote marks get renamed?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does "smooth brain content" actually mean? Aside from just a term for stupid?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dream is that the AI slop content is almost entirely viewed by bots with AI comments. Not a human in sight. One big circle jerk

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Internet is dead and capitalism killed it.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder how long before The PornHub search function will allow you to describe a specific kink scenario and just generate it for you on the spot.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've already narrowed down my subscriptions to a very select few at this point, if any more channels start using this I'm off the platform completely.

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yea pretty much the same with me with EDM. Followed some of the few artists/DJs that I already knew but that's it. I refused to visit youtube's popular page or whatever it is...

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@TheGreatMani This is the world you want.

2 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

The world I want is one where the virtualization of the cell has taken clinical research to productization times down from decades to weeks. You don't know what you're railing against you're simply scared and ignorant.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 20

I'm not sure what you're trying to argue, here. Are you saying that because AI has some good uses, we should ignore all of its bad uses, even though the bad outnumbers the good like 50 to 1? Because if that's what you're saying, it's not a good argument.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

Not defending any of their other arguments, but all AI is not the same. Cell simulation isn't going to be using the same logic as video slop.
Companies have effectively found a shiny new hammer and are going around smacking things to find what works.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This person referenced the world of Ready Player One as something to be desired. We are so cooked

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

No, I referenced the full dive virtual reality of ready player one as a visual reference point to entice you to image the future we're all collectively barreling towards. Accept it or bury your head in the sand, idc.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 14

"It is inevitable! That is why I have to convince you that it's inevitable!" Clown shoes.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

I don't have convince anyone of shit Lmao the tech advancement is happening in front of our faces.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

"Advancement" is that why most "AI" startups are bleeding money? Seriously show me where they are turning a real profit. Not propped up by grants and investors. But the LLMs actually making money. Especially the generative or conversational ones. There are places for it... limited places. Like healthcare to identify problems or describing pictures and such to blind people. That is where this tech has use.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He thinks a billion dollar company with a single employee is a reasonable future.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

It is and I'm right.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 17

Oh don't worry, we got a wood chipper for people like you.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Holy shit dude did you just threaten my life because of some internet bs lol and it got upvoted. you people are feral.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Am i just super old that im not on any video apps and still almost exclusively watch scripted programming? The only things i even go to youtube for are just trailers and clips from animated sitcoms for comment replies on here and reddit.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Only time I access youtube is to help diagnose/repair something that I am not familiar with. And recently, it has bees ass for that.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seriously, not that im on some high horse watching only prestige TV, heres my watch history, go ahead and mock me. But i still feel like ANY actual TV is better than algorithmic brainrot video clips on my phone.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

youtube shorts, instagram and tiktok have been AI slop for a while now

2 months ago | Likes 373 Dislikes 2

I don't watch anyones channel I am not subscribed to. I have only subscribed to 2 new channels in 3 years, and only because the creators I watched suggested them.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Kidding me? Most of that shit was AI slop when an real human made it because nothing actually intelligent would have.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

LinkedIn as well.

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Any short that isn't a content creator themselves talking about something, I skip or "don't recommend this"

2 months ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

Same. Sadly though, these things work by majority behaviour/vote and the majority of people is stupid. So our silent protest will fizzle and die while the dumb masses decide the shape of the future.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but at least I can go the rest of the shorts session seeing fewer garbage shorts. I really wish it would stop feeding me hard right wing content that I've never interacted with

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I completely ignore shorts now. But when it started I spent a few hours blocking tons of right wing content. I watch almost exclusively science and skateboard stuff, but YT still thought I'd like misogyny and anti-trans shit. Fuck off YT.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's because that format is pretty much tailor-made to rot people's brains, and AI slop is great at that.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even without the ai, it's a bunch of unoriginal dipshits making lipsynch videos of already popular videos.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

thankfully the voice and cadence is still just that little bit off .

the ones I hate more are the thieves who put two vids side-by-side.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

The people who literally just record somebody else's video with themselves making faces and pointing at the screen like that counts as commentary

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

And I don't watch them

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this level of deep fake is new, though

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

75% of the internet is bots already, with this AI stuff real users will become extinct after the endless generations of spam that is about to drop.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

youtube "long form" too, though not as pervasive

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not just shorts. My YT feed, once a pretty decent place is now completely unusable. I've moved over to odysee which isn't terrible yet atleast

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even stuff that’s perfectly normal and good now has AI slop title pages so you see some totally fake image that’s super uncanny valley and that turns you off from the whole thing.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The AI has ingested so much TikTok slop that it's producing TikTok slop. Which will get ingested by AI. An ouroboros of bad content.

2 months ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 2

Inbred AI.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Human centipede ouroboros

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Gah. Horrifyingly well put.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Dead internet theory getting closer and closer...

2 months ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 0

Haven't you finished the internet yet, too slow

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a millennial with boomerish knowledge of internet, I already kind of feel that it is, The last years I can't seem to find anything anymore except from AI ads from Temu when I try to find information about an art piece that I know exists in a museum or a specific archaeology article that I read when it was published. It's impossible to find a single real person swatch of a makeup product, just the same three pics from the brand itself. It feels... Empty? Like I'm looping the same page?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good the modern internet deserves to die for the most part.

2 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Should have been taken behind the shed 5 years ago...

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nuke it and rebuild it from scratch with lessons learned, I say

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Guess who will rebuild it and have even more power then?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

unfortunately Internet 2.0 will require you to authenticate with your real identity to do everything. It's the only way to combat bots.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Finally pulled myself together yesterday and set up Firefox and DuckDuckGo on all of my devices. So sick of Google's BS. Why the fuck would I want to waste loads of electricity on AI that i CANNOT trust injected into every search? Fuck off...

2 months ago | Likes 207 Dislikes 2

Firefox steals all your info.. go with Brave

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 11

Nonsense. Firefox is still fine, it was a communication error.

Disagree

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

In my teens I was just swapping between Chrome and Firefox, but I've been in Chrome mode for years now... Looking at the coming swap REAL soon.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is what it took? When Google declared war on adblock I went Firefox since they don't snitch on me for using an adblock.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I have been using Firefox on my main devices for decades. What i meant is that i now finally got around putting it on ALL my devices. And swapped away from regular Google search.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I started using Ecosia

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just avoid Ecosia's image search lately. AI shit everywhere and I do not know if it's Ecosia's fault or just how much of a mess the net is now that its that much harder to search and parse.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ecosia is my search engine. Firefox is my browser usually...agreed that Google (and AI in general) is bs.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have never left firefox in twenty years. Why people did that ?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I worked a job where Firefox was banned, so I stupidly migrated over to chrome, so could read ebooks while I was supposed to be working

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my next phone will be a pixel, for the sole reason it has the best custom OS support. ill flash that thing as soon as im home.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Add UBlock Origin to Firefox (also avoid in Firefox Android). Jack up the tracking protection in Firefox, and set your browser to delete all cookies in exit (you'll need to relogin to sites when you start again, you can add exceptions). For the more nerdy, add temporary containers extension to desktop.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've been a Firefox hawker for years, but I recently decided Brave might be a better option, after Mozilla's Google-esque changes to their vibe.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don't know. Saying "we can no longer say we won't sell your info, but it's totally because of some legal wording shenanigans, trust us" doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For those truly wanting privacy, I would like to remind everyone that TOR with a reputable VPN exists and is very helpful

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know you just started, but do you have any idea how to set up autofill info for duck? Google has this helpful thing where anytime it detects an email/name/address field, it offers to fill it with info from a profile that I made. I can’t seem to get duck to do it, and I have the option turned on in the settings

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I use opera gx on my PC and phone, set to ddg for search. And for certain sites that won't work in opera, I use brave.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

UBlock origin & Enhancer for Youtube.
The extentions make YT manageable & fk ads to em for their shitty actions :)

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah as subsidiaries of Google I don't see them as a separate entity anymore. A single one-off donation through a different platform is more than most creators will ever get from me through ads even if I watch them for the rest of my life, so if I find anyone I watch regularly I support them like that and just keep adblock on.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My Galaxy s23 ultra's UI was fine as fuck. Now updated to be shit I wouldn't touch with a ten feet stick. And annoying AI app prompts in the useless places like the unlock screen. Fucking bloatware shit and now this.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Yessss. Same phone here, same sentiments about that stupid update.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pro tip: you can merge the notifications and system panels back together by sliding the panels all the way down then clicking on the pen in the top right then going to panel settings and clicking together instead of separate. Doesn't fix the rest of it, but that one was the most egregious change to me.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You are a saint, I hated having this so much

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Holy shit thank you! That has been driving me nuts! Bless you internet-stranger!

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bloatware? Get an "unlocked" phone next time! I'm currently rocking a Samsung S25 Ultra with the One UI 7 update, and I have none of the mobile carrier's bloatware.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

If you're in Canada, telecoms are required by law to sell phones unlocked and any sold before the law came into effect are required to unlock phones for free on request.
